Separation Anxiety from leaving jwplayer.com
Over the last few days, I was so anxious thinking on no longer using jwplayer to stream videos over my website etalpassion. It is not because jwplayer will no longer exist, but because it will stop offering free video hosting/streaming services by November 1, 2024.
I discovered jwplayer in September 21, 2021 when just the host of my website could no longer adequately serve those who catered to enjoy the free movies featured in etalpassion. The experience when hostinger streamed my videos was so painstakingly slow, so I needed alternatives so as not to discontinue etalpassion by the lack of video server that could serve the movies without lag.
There are other capable video hosting platforms that I actually experimented to fit the need of etalpassion. But most are paid platforms which I could not afford. I wanted etalpassion website to continue serving its users for free without the hassle of advertisements, and having to spend another dollar for video hosting services would take a toll on my finances. Apart from the webhosting and the domain names expenses, I could not anymore afford a decent paid video hosting services.
Thanks for those video hosting services that offer free service on a limited period. To name a few, just to appreciate that somehow I was using their platforms for free, they are: vdocipher.com, dacast.com, dailymotion.com, vidyard.com, dyntube.com, wowza.com, panopto.com, brightcove.com and the one I am still using now, jwplayer.com.
Actually vidyard.com is still also serving etalpassion clientele and its service can be experienced when you sing karaoke song featured in etalpassion.
Panopto.com was the predominant etalpassion's video server until it stopped giving free service option in 2023. It was jwplayer afterwards until now.
So the separation anxiety is real come November 1, 2024. I may have to shell out more dollars to keep etalpassion going at its usual pace, for free, without ads and safe. With emphasis to "safe."
I will continue to research and find suitable video server so as not to hamper etalpassion's operation, perhaps by availing those that offer 30-days free trial and before the 30-days is exhausted, switch again to another one offering even less days free trial. More work on my part just to monitor and make the changes continually, but what can I do, this is the only passion of mine that I love to share to the whole world. The love of movies.
Talking about the whole world, it is still Ireland that tops the usage of etalpassion. Thanks for patronizing Ireland.
