Why is Eid al-Adha so important in Islam?

Eid al-Adha comes after the Day of ‘Arafah, which is the most significant day of Hajj, and the day when Allah perfected His religion and approved Islam as a way of life for Muslims.

Muslims perform their own sacrifice for Eid al-Adha, to symbolise the act of obedience that Prophet Ibrahim (AS) demonstrated for Allah. The ritual of sacrifice is a symbolic act to commemorate the strength of submission that one of the greatest men in the history of mankind exemplified for us.
