DID YOU KNOW>>> An Affidavit of Support and Guarantee (ASG) is a legal document in which a sponsor formally commits to financially support a traveler, ensuring they have sufficient resources during their stay abroad.
Purpose and Legal Basis
The ASG is primarily used for Filipino nationals traveling abroad to assure both Philippine authorities and foreign immigration officials that the traveler will not overstay, work illegally, or become a public charge during their visit. It is rooted in Philippine immigration laws, including the Immigration Act of 1940 (Commonwealth Act No. 613) and Republic Act No. 8239 (Philippine Passport Act of 1996), and is reinforced by Bureau of Immigration memoranda and Executive Order No. 287 (2003),. The document is often required for travelers whose trip is sponsored by a relative, friend, or legal entity, covering expenses such as airfare, accommodation, and daily living costs.
