“Struggle” is a mural by Fred Orig, painted in 2020. His brushstrokes form figures that appear intertwined and twisted together, portraying both togetherness and struggle.
Within these figures are bright, contrasting colors—an array of greens, yellows, and neon baby blues set against an orange backdrop. As the colors gradually fade toward the top, they give way to dark, lingering strokes.
Created in the midst of an uncertain time, when COVID-19 had brought the world to a standstill, “Struggle” captures a moment defined by uncertainty, connection, and the weight of what we were collectively going through.
Years later, the mural remains—a reminder of a time when struggle was something we all shared.
