Attention: SME Startups
Dear friends,
Did you know that my Business didn't make money for the first 5 years??? Yep. Got dad to get a Business Name Registered in 2014 but we didn't make any money until 2019. Why?
Well, to tell you the Truth, we wanted to be Business Consultants but we had no idea on how to tap into the Industries. For a start, we knew we were smart System Analysts. But we've never actually assisted any Business apart from using a Laptop to create Business Profiles, Certificates for nearby Schools, Logos and Letterheads.
We knew that all SMEs were struggling. We knew we all had problems but what exactly was the key problem and where do we start?
I mean, the main Problem is we need to make money. Today, every day and right now. But how do we start? Where can we start?
So how exactly did I start in 2019?
Okay first of all, let's look at what I already had:
1. Laptop
2. Smartphone
3. IPA + TIN + Business Account
4. Facebook Account
5. Visa Card (borrowed my brother's 😉)
I was already fully equipped to do Business Online Today. And all I needed was a PRODUCT/SERVICE & an Advertisement.
I simply didn't know that. I wish someone could have told me that 5 years back. But anyways, all I need to do now is START.
So here's what I did...
It was a Friday afternoon. We discussed during the week that choosing a good Business Name was critical to get Customers. So I settled for "SME Resource Center". After that I saw my brother creating an Email. I then asked him to create my Email. After that said, "You know what? How many other SMEs would need to create their Customized Business Emails? We need to turn that into a Service. You know what, let's charge K100 for that. 🤩
I quickly, went to my Laptop, Googled an Ad template, edited it in Microsoft Word, got my brother to take a photo of me on my phone, put that into the Ad and created what you can see up there.
Next I created a page, insert all the details uploaded my Advertisement & bam, I was done.
Next I clicked on that Boost Button insert the Visa card details, run the Ad & waited for the enquiries to come in & within 30 minutes enquiries started rolling in.
I used, Invoice home, sent out a Proforma Invoice, then I went over to my first client and got my first K100 for a Service after 5 years of not knowing how to do this.
And just like that, with just an IDEA & EX*****ON, SME Resource Center was born with a Product that got its first Customer in just one hour.
It's amazing what you can do with that phone in your hand right??? 😉

There's a good number of my friends who already have a registered Business and a Business Account. What they are lacking is that 1 hour of Commitment to put their Product on the Market right now.
