To all people interested in participating in PNG Labour Mobility Programs

The Government of PNG has established the PNG Labour Mobility Unit (LMU) under the Department of Treasury to lead on our international Labour Mobility partnerships.

PNG participation in these Labour Mobility programs is based on bilateral agreements between each participating country.

Agents can not represent these agreements and the Government of PNG does not approve agents to support labour mobility applications.

Instead, the Government of PNG tasks the LMU to work with approved District and Provincial recruitment hubs to process application, interview and selection of successful candidates to the national work ready pool database.

Only candidates properly registered through this process can be eligible for consideration by employers in Australia and New Zealand.

People who would like to apply should contact the LMU for referral and contact details of the District or Provincial Recruitment Hub they should register under.

Any Papua New Guinea citizen between the age of 21 and 40 years old can apply.

Labour Mobility encourages applications from men and women of good character who are physically fit and willing to work, with good English language skills.

All applicants must have the following documents:
1. Birth certificate/NID card
2. Valid passport
3. Visa police clearance
4. COVID vaccine card

Work sectors overseas include Agriculture, Horticulture, Viticulture, Meatworks and Aged Care.

Applicants should not pay money to be registered in the Work Ready Pool. Participation in this program is based on candidates having the documents required, being fit and ready to work.

25-year-old Ishmael Nathan has recently completed a 7-month RSE contract in New Zealand.

He says the highlight of his success was the budget training he received prior to mobilization in October 2023.

“That presentation on saving and managing my money was helpful to focus my preparation through the pre-mobilization process and once I got to New Zealand.” Ishmael said.

All workers must attend a two-day Pre-Departure Briefing (PDB) facilitated by the PNG LMU.

The PDB includes sessions on visa compliance, worker and employer responsibilities, law and order, the culture and lifestyle of communities that host PNG workers as well as how to save money.

“The PDB and budget training really helped me throughout my whole time living and working in New Zealand.”

“I was able to stay focused on what I wanted to achieve which was simple, saving enough money to come back home.” Ishmael said.

Ishmael has travelled back to his village in Western Highlands Province. There he will meet with his father.

“Together as a family we will decide what to do with the money I earned. I am grateful to have this chance to support them.” Ishmael said.

Ishmael joined Labour Mobility through the Hagen Central District Recruitment Hub.

All Labour Mobility applicants must hold a birth certificate, valid passport, visa police clearance, and Covid-19 vaccine card.

Requirements for New Application / Renewal

1. Duly completed Passport Application Form.
2. Filled Authorization Form
3. Two (2) recent passport size photo
4. Copy of Birth Certificate
5. Application must be stamped and signed by the commissioner of oath

Requirements for Renewal are the same also add your last passport copy.
