The four National Parliamentarians from West New Britain Province have pledged K250,000 to fund a monument or a project in memory of the Late Sir Julius Chan.

They made this commitment when paying tribute to one of the country's founding fathers after accompanying his casket from Kavieng to Manmantinut, his final resting place in the Namatanai District of New Ireland Province.

The West New Britain delegation joined other New Guinea Islands Provinces as they performed customary obligations to pay tribute to Sir Julius at Manmantinut last night.

Governor Sasindran Muthuvel spoke on behalf of his colleague MPs, Oil Palm Minister and Member for Nakanai, Francis Maneke, Member for Talasea and Chairman of the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee, Freddie Kumai and Minister for Rural and Economic Development and Member for Kandrian Gloucester, Joseph Lelang.

"On behalf of us the four MPs and the people of West New Britain, we ask that the family decides on whether to build a monument, a library or a project that we will assist to co-fund.

The legacy of Sir Julius must not be forgotten and we wish to assist in funding an initiative that future generations will see and know the story of one of the country's founding fathers and pioneer leaders."

Governor Muthuvel announced that they have agreed to release the funds as soon as they receive confirmation from the family of Sir Julius of a nominated account to transfer the funds to.

Heartfelt Condolences on the Passing of Sir Julius Chan.

Dear Citizens of New Ireland Province and all Papua New Guineans,

I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Sir Julius Chan, a true founding father, pre-independence leader, former Prime Minister, and revered Governor of New Ireland Province. His visionary leadership and unwavering dedication have left an indelible mark on our nation.

As we prepare to celebrate 50 years of Papua New Guinea's independence this year, Sir Julius's life remains a beacon of inspiration for all of us. His contributions helped shape the course of our history, and his legacy will continue to guide us.

Sir Julius Chan's life is a testament to service, commitment, and the pursuit of a brighter future for our people. We mourn his loss, but we also celebrate his remarkable achievements and the lasting impact he has made on our beloved country.

On behalf of the WNB Provincial Government and the people of WNB, I extend our deepest condolences to Sir Julius Chan's family, friends, and the people of New Ireland Province during this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire generations to come.

With heartfelt sympathy,
Sasindran Muthuvel MP
Governor WNB

Feed the Need is a phrase that is typically used to convey the idea of helping to provide essential resources, such as food, clothing, or shelter, to those in need or who are experiencing hardship. It often refers to the act of giving back to the community or supporting charitable organizations that work to address poverty and hunger.
