Chelcie, Louisa, Fergielyn and Jessie popped over the road to BNZ yesterday for Women Celebrating Success - a panel discussion by Jenna Broadhurst (General Manager at BNZ), Kirsten (KP) Patterson MNZM (Institute of Directors in New Zealand) and Erin Rush - Wellington Real Estate.

They found it inspiring to hear women at varying stages of senior leadership careers talking honestly about what they have learned and what challenges they have faced. That kind of honesty is incredibly refreshing. It’s reassuring to know that even those we look up to are still learning, growing, and navigating uncertainty along the way.

📅Wills month may have ended, but the importance of having a well-drafted Will is just as significant for every other month of the year.

A Will is often your final set of instructions. It pays to get it right. ✅

Online templates and DIY solutions can be tempting.

But a Will is not simply a form to complete. It needs to work in the context of your family👨‍👩‍👧‍👦, your assets💵, your relationships💑, and your long-term intentions.

We regularly see situations where:

➡️ wording is unclear;

➡️assets are not dealt with properly;

➡️provisions do not accurately reflect the will-maker's circumstances;

➡️a complex family situation has been treated as "simple";

➡️executors face unnecessary complications; or

➡️family members are left navigating uncertainty.

The cost of getting a Will wrong can far exceed the cost of obtaining professional advice in the first place.

A well-drafted Will provides certainty 👍. A poorly drafted Will can create disputes👎.

You only get one opportunity to leave clear instructions.

Professional advice helps ensure your wishes are properly recorded and can be carried out as intended.
