Drug trafficking and narcotic drugs offences in Nepal are governed primarily by the Narcotic Drugs (Control) Act, 2033, which strictly regulates the production, possession, sale, transport, and use of prohibited substances. Illegal trafficking, smuggling, and unauthorized possession of narcotic drugs are treated as serious criminal offences and may result in heavy fines, imprisonment, and confiscation of property depending on the quantity and nature of the substance involved. Investigations are usually conducted by Nepal Police and relevant enforcement agencies, followed by prosecution before the competent court under criminal procedure laws. The law aims to prevent drug abuse, organized crime, and threats to public health and safety.
