In 2021, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) launched the "Digital Technology to Assess Safeguard Impacts" challenge to find innovative digital solutions for remote project monitoring. Zite emerged as the winner with its integrated software platform designed to manage and monitor projects through mobile and web apps.
Zite's platform was first tested in two significant projects. In Indonesia, the State Electricity Company of Indonesia (PLN) utilized Zite to digitize inspections of hazardous material warehouses. Initially starting with five warehouses, Zite enabled faster and more efficient inspections with real-time data collection and management. The platform's success led to the addition of thirty more warehouses and ongoing capacity building for staff.
In the Philippines, the Sustainable Development Tourism Project team from the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) began using Zite to conduct a socioeconomic survey of affected households. Despite implementation delays, Zite's platform showcased its potential for streamlined data collection and real-time updates.
Zite's digital solution demonstrated significant advancements in data collection speed, sharing, and analysis, positioning it as a critical tool for effective remote project monitoring.
This initiative explored how an integrated software platform could be used so that due diligence in reviewing, monitoring, and supervising projects could still be observed even with travel restrictions in place because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
