βοΈ WHO IS LADY JUSTICE?
Have you ever seen the image of a woman wearing a blindfold, holding a sword in one hand and a scale in the other?
She is known as Lady Justice β one of the most recognized symbols of law and justice around the world.
But what do these symbols actually mean?
βοΈ The Blindfold
The blindfold represents impartiality. It symbolizes that justice should be administered fairly, without regard to wealth, status, tribe, religion, gender, influence, or personal connections.
In the eyes of justice, everyone is equal.
βοΈ The Scale
The scale represents fairness, balance, and the careful weighing of evidence and arguments before a decision is made.
Justice requires listening to all sides before reaching a conclusion.
βοΈ The Sword
The sword represents authority, strength, and the power of the law to enforce decisions.
It reminds us that justice is not merely a conceptβit must also be upheld and enforced.
Together, these symbols communicate a powerful message:
Justice must be fair, unbiased, balanced, and effective.
While no human system is perfect, the ideal of justice remains the foundation of every civilized society and legal system.
