Today America lost its place as a bastion of democracy and rule of law. The fundamental principle of natural justice is being brutally violated and abused by this weird situation in which Senator Patrick Leahy is presiding in a proceedings in which he will also cast a vote. Nemo judex in causa sua which means you cannot be a Judge in your own cause. The refusal of Chief Justice Robert to preside over this trial should have given the hint to Democrats that this is a journey in constitutional illegality and abuse. This is nothing but legislative recklessness and rascality
