What are the benefits of eating eggs?

Important Nutrition Facts Of Egg To Keep In Mind
Eating eggs provides high-quality protein, vitamins (A, D, E, B vitamins), and minerals (calcium, phosphorus, selenium), and is linked to benefits for eye health, brain function, and weight management. They are a complete protein source, meaning they contain all nine essential amino acids, and are rich in choline which is vital for brain and nervous system function. Eggs can be a part of a healthy diet for most people and may support heart health and muscle strength.
Key benefits of eating eggs
High-quality protein: Eggs are a complete protein source, providing all nine essential amino acids needed for building and repairing muscle tissue.
Rich in vitamins and minerals: They contain a wide array of essential nutrients, including vitamin A, D, E, B12, folate, selenium, and phosphorus.
Supports eye health: Eggs are a good source of lutein and zeaxanthin, antioxidants that can help protect against age-related macular degeneration and cataracts.
Promotes brain function: Choline, found in eggs, is crucial for brain and nervous system health, including memory and cognitive function.
Aids in weight management: The high protein content of eggs can help you feel full, which may reduce calorie intake. Protein also boosts metabolism through a process called the thermic effect of food.
May support heart health: Despite older concerns, research now suggests that eggs can be part of a heart-healthy diet for most people, and they provide omega-3 fatty acids which are beneficial for heart and brain health.
Supports immune function: Eggs provide vitamin D, which is important for a healthy immune system and can also help reduce inflammation.

Overeating any food, including staple foods like fufu, rice, or eba, can have negative health consequences. These West African staples are all rich in carbohydrates and calories, and consuming them in excess without a balanced diet can lead to several health concerns.

Here is a breakdown of the general effects of overeating these types of starchy, high-carb foods:

Common Effects of Overeating Fufu, Rice, or Eba

1. Weight Gain and Obesity:

All three foods are high in carbohydrates and, consequently, calories. Consuming more calories than your body burns (a calorie surplus) causes your body to store the excess energy as fat, leading to weight gain and increasing the risk of obesity.

• Fufu and Eba (made from cassava) have a high carbohydrate content. One cup of Fufu can contain around 398 calories and 80.6g of carbs, and a cup of Eba can have around 294 calories and 70.6g of carbs.

• Rice (especially white rice) is also a significant source of carbohydrates and calories.

2. Increased Risk of Type 2 Diabetes:

• White Rice has a high Glycemic Index (GI), meaning it can cause a rapid spike in blood sugar levels.

Consistently high consumption can lead to blood sugar imbalances, insulin resistance, and an increased risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.

• Fufu and Eba are also starchy foods. While some experts note that fufu's starch content may be a resistant starch, which can be healthy, other cassava products have been shown to have a high GI, which could pose a challenge for diabetics. An endocrinologist suggests that eating eba, fufu, and amala with vegetables is good for diabetes patients, emphasizing the need for balance.

3. Nutrient Deficiencies:

If a large portion of your diet is made up of these starchy staples, you may not be consuming enough nutrient-rich foods like vegetables and lean proteins. Over time, this can lead to deficiencies in essential vitamins and minerals like Vitamin A, zinc, and iron.

4. Digestive Issues:

Consuming very large

Menstruation is that beautiful time of the month when the uterus realizes that no pregnancy is forthcoming and it expresses its disappointment with cramps, mood swings, bloating, nausea, abdominal pains and the rest of it.

Every month, a woman’s body prepares for a possible pregnancy by thickening the lining of the uterus (called the endometrium). The anterior pituitary gland would keep releasing hormones (LH & FSH) to keep building the uterus with support and every nourishment it needs to house a fetus. If at 21 — 28 days and there was no fertilization, the endometrium of the uterus feels bad and starts to break down those lining it has built. Those lining, along with blood and other fluids, exits the body through the vag!na. That results to menstruation (menstrual phase). And it usually last between 3 to 7 days.

But it’s so sad that people still see menstruation as something bad and never to be spoken of. I believe that most women cried, were nervous when they first saw their me**es. They don’t know how powerful menstruation is. They don’t know that most women pray fervently for a regular menstruation. Some women experience Menorrhagia, Amenorrhea, Oligomenorrhea, Dysmenorrhea, and many other abnormalities associated with menstruation.

Again, there’s an ongoing research into menstrual blood and its potential therapeutic applications, including:

1. Stem cells — Menstrual bl00d contains stem cells with potential for regenerative medicine.

2. Wound healing— Some studies suggest menstrual bl00d may aid in wound healing.

What do we do this period? Now, it is important for women to maintain personal hygiene, always be prepared, and dispose used pads properly. We should also encourage and care for these women as it’s not easy to loose bl00d monthly.

And most importantly, do not mock a girl that got stained šŸ‡ÆšŸ‡µ. There’s nothing funny about this.

You can also buy pads and support the less privileged women as most girls and women can’t even afford a pad.

This is the number one reason some women di£ within 24 hours after childbirth 😭

She gave birth safely.
She smiled.
She held her baby.

But within hours… she collapsed.
And just like that, a new mother was gone. šŸ’”

šŸ‘‰ The leading k!llĀ£r of women after childbirth is something called Postpartum Hemorrhage (PPH) — heavy bleeding that happens after delivery.

šŸ’” Here’s what you need to know:

āœ… Normal bleeding after birth

Bleeding is like a heavy period, gradually reducing day by day.

🚨 Dang£rous bleeding (PPH)

Bleeding that soaks more than 1 pad in an hour.

Passing large blood clots.

Feeling dizzy, weak, or faint.

Rapid heartbeat or difficulty breathing.

PPH can happen to ANY woman, even after a ā€œsmooth delivery.ā€
And when it happens, every minute matters. Immediate medical help is the only way to save a mother’s life.

✨ Dear mama, please don’t ignore excessive bleeding after birth.
It’s not ā€œjust normal.ā€ It’s a medical emergency.

Nursing school will humble you: exam starts from the only topic you didn’t read

Nursing school is really full of different species of students:
That friend who will keep watching movies or reading online stories until it’s time to walk into the exam hall.

Those who will sleep and wake up only when the invigilator is already calling students in. 😓

The ones who go around gisting and somehow still manage to write plenty in the exam.

And then there’s you yes, you who has to read the same thing over and over because you only retain about 30%.

But my dear, don’t let these classmates make you feel less. Instead of comparing yourself, join hands with those who retain more, ask questions, seek clarifications, and even teach back what you understand. Combine your effort with prayer, and you will surely reap the rewards of your labor.

Everybody wants Nursing these days

Let’s not lie, Nursing has suddenly become the new gold rush. Check JAMB now almost everybody is putting Nursing as first choice. But if we look closely, half of these people don’t even love Nursing

They are not entering because they have a passion for hospitals or saving lives.

In fact, some of them can’t even stand the smell of a ward, or the sight of blood. šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø The main reason they are entering is because of what they have heard.

Once you finish Nursing, you can travel abroad easily and hammer

That’s the truth
Most people are not chasing Nursing for passion, they are chasing it for the japa ticket

But let’s be real
Nursing is not a soft course
It’s long, stressful, and draining
Night shifts, clinicals, endless practicals, tough lecturers
It’s not beans at all
And when you don’t genuinely love something, the stress will choke you double

So imagine entering Nursing just for travel opportunity, only to realize the course is hell fire on its own, and traveling abroad is not even automatic
That’s where many people start regretting

See, Nursing is a calling
You need love, patience, and compassion to survive it Without passion, it will feel like punishment

But here is the wahala, many people don’t care.
They just want that UK/Canada dreamšŸ˜‚
