*A FATHER'S LEGACY GOES BACK TO SCHOOL: ELIZABETH ZABE IBU YAKUBU Esq DONATED ₦1 MILLION FOR THE GIRLS OF FGGC GBOKO* 🕊️
In 1988, she walked out of the gates of Federal Government Girls' College, Gboko, as a young girl full of dreams. This weekend, she returned to her school family and brought her father's legacy with her.
At the FGGC Gboko Old Girls Association 2026 AGM & Global Reunion in Port Harcourt, Elizabeth Zabé Ibu Yakubu Esq delivered the keynote address on the theme "Celebrating Sisterhood, Growth & Impact." She was also honoured with the Professional Excellence Award for over three decades of business leadership and mentorship.
But the most meaningful moment of the night came at the end.
On behalf of the Professor John Odo Ibu Foundation, she and her siblings donated ₦1,000,000 to support girls at FGGC Gboko who are struggling to pay their JAMB and WAEC fees. The Foundation was set up in honour of their late father, Professor John Odo Ibu, who passed in 2023. Its mission is to advance medical education, support healthcare professionals and give underprivileged students a fair chance.
And it doesn't stop at a donation. She asked to know every beneficiary, so that each girl can be mentored and followed up.
Somewhere in Gboko, a girl who might have missed her exams will now sit for them.
Professor Ibu is gone, but his work continues. 🕊️
"Let our sisterhood be deeper, our growth be shared, and our impact outlive us."
