Good morning All
1) THE CLAIM THAT IT WAS RIGGED.
There has been claims that the election was rigged because Peter didn't win and Peter Obi's supporters have sold this narrative to virtually everybody on social media.
However, ask yourself this honest question and ask any of Peter OBI's supporters the same question; can any candidate become President in Nigeria with Christian votes only?
Peter Obi only won Christian dominated areas in the South and North Central, how could that have made him president even if the election wasn't rigged? What about votes from muslim Northern Nigeria which are more huge than those from South?.
He embarked on religious campaign and pastors queued behind him in the hope that the church would install a president, upon this, they went spiritual about this conspiracy; they dolled out barrage of prophecies on OBI's impending victory, they decreed, they fasted and prayed, they preached and embarked on large scale coordinated campaign against Bola Ahmed Tinubu. At the end, THEY FAILED, that is the cause of frustration, anger, bombastic rhetoric and allegations of rigging by the same pastors so as to save their faces having prophesied Obi would win, they now have an excuse to hing on why the prophesies failed.
WHY THE ELECTIONS WEREN'T RIGGED?
This is the freest and fairest elections we had since 1999.
Note that even the President wasn't in support of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, hence power of incumbency wasn't deployed.
- All the President's key men weren't in support of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
-The cashless policy which brought about paucity of cash all over the nation was because of him so that he won't spend his money to influence the out come of the election.
-The incumbent Governors, Senators, House of rep members, House of assembly members and all the elected officials and appointees didn't have money to spend to influence the election.
- Security Men didn't intervene any where.
-The president couldn't deliver his state, he lost it to the opposition.
-Bola Tinubu the eventual winner lost his state to the opposition.
- 20 Governors lost their states to the opposition.
- Five sitting Governors lost their senatorial bids.
-People who are nobody won prominent positions.
-There were surprise losses and surprise wins.
-The electoral system was so tight that you can't infiltrate it.
So, tell me how the election was rigged when incumbent Governors and senators with enormous powers to rig themselves in eventually lost?
2) THE ERRONEOUS BELIEF THAT OBI'S CANDIDATURE IS A YOUTH MOVEMENT.
OBI's candidature is not a youth movement. It is a movement hinged on religious bigotry by the Christian folks.
If you say, it is a youth movement, then who are the people that voted for Tinubu and Atiku? Are you now saying that there are more elderly people in Nigeria than the youths, hence Obi lost?
Supposed OBI's movement is a youth movement in the South, does it have any traction in the North where the population of youth is more huge? In the North, do they even know that Obi is contesting for President? Has Obi won any Muslim dominated area? Do youths in Muslim Areas know he is even contesting?
OBI's movement is not a youth movement, it is a movement based on religious and ethnic bigotry, hence it failed.
3) WOULD OBI HAVE BEEN PRESIDENT UNDER THE ELECTORAL LAW?
Note that to win Presidency in Nigeria, two things were spelt out by the constitution;
- A candidate must score the highest number of votes( Simple majority)
-The candidate must also have 25% of the total votes cast in about 24 states or 23 states and Abuja.
Here is the question that begs for answer; Even if Obi had scored the highest Votes cast and won simple majority, would he have been president? No! Because the didn't meet the second provision that says a candidate must also obtain 25% of the votes cast in 24 states.
Obi only got 25% of the votes cast in 17 states out of 36 states, less than half of the states, so how could he have been president?
CONCLUSION; The claims that the election was rigged and that Obi won it is based on emotions. The Christian folks and the hierachy had invested so much on OBI's presidency emotionally, hence the failure of it has devastated so many, that is the reason for the fallacious claims. Their conspiracy against Muslims failed them. Note that Obi didn't even come 2nd in the election, so how can a candidate who came 3rd even be the one claiming victory? If anybody would make such claim is the candidate with 2nd highest votes...The End
