We celebrate all law students who completed their internship placement in our law firm. We have had a total of 7 law students intern with us. This year we had One from the Nigerian Law School Kano, the second was a 400-level law student of ACHIEVERS UNIVERSITY, OWO ONDO STATE, the third was a law graduate of the University of Abuja, and the other three were international students from the Republic of Zambia. It was two months of exposure to law practice, practical issues were treated by the interns, and intensive legal research and knowledge-sharing sessions. The virtual presentations helped them sharpen the skills needed in this digital age. It was a great learning experience. Most especially to have the capacity to offer the opportunity to young law students is fulfilling. Another way to give back to the society. This internship experience will propel them to greater heights in the legal profession.

The Law says that the power of INEC to postpone elections within the general parameters set by the Constitution, although wide, is not unlimited. INEC may only postpone an already set election date in the following circumstances:

If there is reason to believe that a serious breach of the peace is likely to occur if the election is proceeded with on that date or [if] it is impossible to conduct the elections as a result of natural disasters or other emergencies.

The vagueness of the language appears to leave INEC wide discretionary powers. All that the INEC is required to do to postpone an election is have a “cogent and verifiable” reason, which could be as serious as riots or a simple logistical problem of not having sufficient voting materials in the poling station, one of the reasons given for postponing elections this season.

My opinion is simply that we Nigerians should be selfless in making laws/decisions for the betterment of the future generation. Let us make Nigeria good 🇳🇬.
