One of the most painful things for a Lawyer is not the workload, not the long hours, and not even the difficult clients.

It is when a client hears your advice, understands it, agrees with it… and then chooses not to follow it.

As Lawyers, we don’t give advice for decoration.
We give it because we have seen the end from the beginning.
We have handled the disputes, the losses, the court cases, and the regrets.

So when a client says: “I’ll manage it like this.” “Let’s skip this step.” “It’s just a formality.” “My friend did it without a Lawyer.”

And then the problem arises, the pain is not just professional, it is personal.

Because the truth is: Most legal problems don’t start big.
They start with ignored advice.

Legal advice is cheapest before a problem starts.
After the problem starts, it becomes damage control and damage is always more expensive.

Listen to your Lawyer.
Not because we are always right
but because we are trained to protect you before trouble shows up.

One of the things that surprises me as a Lawyer is how many problems people get into simply because they assumed.

They assumed a verbal agreement was enough.
They assumed a document didn’t need to be read.
They assumed a friend, brother, church member, or business partner would “do the right thing.”

By the time they come to my office, the assumptions have turned into disputes, losses, and regret.

Law has taught me this one hard truth: clarity saves money, peace, and relationships.
Assumptions do not.

That is why I always say:ask questions, document agreements, and get proper legal guidance early.

It is always cheaper to prevent a problem than to fix one later.

Most clients don’t leave with an argument.
They leave with silence.

Good lawyers often assume competence is enough.

But clients rarely walk away because you don’t know the law.

They walk away because of how they felt working with you.

Here’s how it usually happens:

You delay responses because you’re busy.
The client reads it as indifference.

You speak in legal language without translating it.
The client feels confused, not impressed.

You focus on procedure and forget reassurance.
The client feels anxious and unsupported.

You assume “they’ll understand” because it’s obvious to you.

The client feels left in the dark.

You deliver excellent work but never explain the process or progress.

The client feels disconnected from their own matter.

None of these look like mistakes.
They look like normal practice.

But clients measure value differently.
They measure clarity.
They measure communication.
They measure how safe they feel placing their problem in your hands.

The painful part?
They won’t complain.
They won’t argue.
They won’t warn you.

They’ll simply stop calling.
Stop referring.
And quietly choose another lawyer.

Great lawyering is not just about being right in court.
It’s about being present, clear, and human in between.

If you want to keep clients, don’t just work hard on their files.
Work intentionally on how you show up for them.

Because the clients you lose quietly are the ones you never get a second chance to win back.
Copied!!

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, on Wednesday said the suspension of the weekly sit-at-home order in the Southeast has begun to translate into tangible economic recovery, with over 45,000 shops reopening for business on Mondays at the Onitsha Main Market alone.

Soludo attributed the resurgence in commercial activity to sustained security operations by his administration, which he said have led to the dismantling of more than 62 criminal camps across the state.

The governor spoke to State House correspondents after a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, describing the reopening of markets and schools on Mondays as a major turning point for the Southeast’s economy.

According to him, years of enforced shutdowns under the sit-at-home directive declared by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) over the incarceration of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu imposed severe social and economic costs on the region, forcing some businesses and investors to relocate.

He said the damage went beyond lost daily earnings, warning that repeated closures undermined investor confidence and weakened long-term growth prospects.
