Silence in the Face of Injustice Encourages Operation!

Intimidation hardly begins with loud announcements, it usually grow quietly if the citizens choose comfort instead of courage to confront abuse.

Every ignored oppression, every overlooked abuse of power, always sends a dangerous signal, that accountability is optional and that silence can become an accomplice.

Let this Sunday stir your conscience. Speak responsibly, but make sure you speak out when necessary.

Question respectfully when the need arises, Because history repeatedly shows that unchecked power expands in the direction of public silence.

And that is just it ⚖️

DAVID UMAHI AND TRACY OHIRI, THE CONCERN OF NIGERIANS AND THE LAW⚖️

The unfolding and unfortunate controversy involving The Federal Minister Of Works Engr. David Nweze Umahi and his creditor, Mrs. Tracy Ohiri, strikes at the very heart of the rule of law in Nigeria.

According to Mrs. Tracy Ohiri’s allegations, what began as a debt dispute spiraled into something far more disturbing, claiming that she was pressured for an intimate relationship as a condition for payment, threatened when she refused, which led to her been subjected to arrest and imprisonment after 12 years while still pursuing her alleged debt.

Under Nigerian law, a simple debt is primarily a civil matter. Section 35 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) guarantees the right to personal liberty, while section 8(2) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) 2015 expressly prohibits the use of arrest as a tool for enforcing civil obligations

If these allegations are proven, then Nigeria is not merely looking at a civil disagreement, but at a potential abuse of power that the law must confront decisively.

The courts have repeatedly warned especially in McLaren v. Jennings (2003), that the police and criminal process must not be weaponized to settle private financial disputes.

Let's be sincere to ourselves, any proven attempt to demand sxxual favors in exchange for performing a legal obligation could raise serious issues under Nigeria’s criminal laws relating to intimidation, threats, and abuse of authority.

Although, all these are still allegations that must be thoroughly, independently, and transparently investigated, the bone of contention at stake which is using criminal procedures to settle issue emanating from civil agreement is non-negotiable.

No public office holder, no matter how highly placed, is above his Country's Constitution, and no Nigerian, especially a wife and mother of underaged children, should face such humiliation and intending incarceration as have seen days ago, as a substitute for due civil process.

Justice in Nigeria must never wear the face of intimidation. If the rule of law is to mean anything, it must protect the weak as firmly as it restrains the powerful.

Dear Minister David Umahi, some us are highly embarrassed beyond words and actions Sir 🙏

Just look at how Queen MAY looks exactly as though she is at the same age with those 13 year old children she is advertising with here.

Of a truth, life is exactly what you make of it. See her looking so beautiful and young.

In all you are doing, do not light your candle for one who delights in seeing you in darkness. Else, they will quench the fire entirely⚖️

Whenever Justice is delayed, it becomes an institutional betrayal.

In Nigeria, some courts or authorities allow cases to be dragged for so long unnecessarily, not because they are naturally slow; but because some of them purposefully wish to fall the very people they are meant to protect, mostly to please some members of the authority.

Every avoidable delay of any case before a court in Nigeria, automatically weakens public confidence and makes citizens feel that justice depends more on time and influence than on truth and fairness.

When Justice is delayed, the accused remain trapped in uncertainty, victims are denied freedom, and the public begins to lose faith in the legal system.

A justice system that moves too slowly, ends up hurting the innocent and indirectly helping the guilty. Justice must never become something people have to suffer endlessly in painry to obtain.

Institutions must treat timely justice as a serious constitutional responsibility, not an administrative afterthought. Courts must act with urgency, lawyers must avoid needless delays, and authorities must be held accountable for whatever delay encountered in search of Justice ⚖️

Once justice is repeatedly postponed, the system ceases from being a protective tool and become a betrayal.

Always carefully read through a document before appending your signature!

Too many people usually discover the danger done to themselves by signing a document without reading through only when it is already too late and must have caused a lot of harm for them.

To some, it may be when hidden charges appear in loan agreements, when harsh eviction clauses surfaces in tenancy agreements, or when restrictive terms emerge from business contracts.

Parties with ugly intentions often rely on haste, trust, or ignorance to slip in oppressive provisions. This is why the culture of “just sign here” must be resisted by all means possible with legal awareness and deliberate caution.

Your signature is powerful; treat it like a loaded legal weapon, not a casual inscription that can easily be raised, and signing a document without reading it is not a harmless shortcut, it is a silent legal trap many Nigerians walk into on a daily.

The law generally assumes that once you sign, you understand and accepts the contents of that document. Whether it is a contract, tenancy agreement, or loan form, your signature can bind you to obligations you never intended to undertake.

In the courtroom, “I didn’t read it” is often a weak shield against the consequences of a document you voluntarily endorsed.

This post is clear, never you sign what you do not read through, understand, and never be rushed into legal commitments. Instead, demand time, ask questions, and seek professional guidance where necessary.

A few minutes of careful reading can save years of costly and time consuming litigation and regret. In law, vigilance is not paranoia, it is protection and ignorance of the law is not an excuse ⚖️
