You’ve Been Around the Fire… But You’ve Forgotten How to Burn
There was a time your heart trembled at the mention of His name.
You used to wake up hungry - not for your phone, not for applause - but for Him.
You’d pray, weep, and wait. And even silence felt sacred.
But somewhere along the line, something shifted.
You got busy.
You got careful.
You got professional about your faith.
Now you know all the right words, all the right poses, all the right ways to “look” like you’re on fire - while deep inside, the flame that once made hell nervous is just… smoke.
Religion made you efficient, but revival used to make you alive.
Religion taught you how to “attend,” but revival taught you how to ache.
Religion made you a fan of sermons, podcasts, and preachers… but revival once made you a flame that couldn’t be contained.
And the Spirit is whispering again tonight - not loud, not harsh - just that quiet ache that keeps asking:
“When did you stop burning?”
You didn’t mean to.
You only tried to survive.
You kept showing up, even when your tears dried up.
You told yourself it was just a phase.
But can we be honest? It’s been months… maybe years.
You’ve learned to substitute momentum for presence.
You’ve mistaken noise for fire.
The scary thing is - you can be surrounded by flames and still be cold.
You can sing the songs of revival and never meet the God of revival.
You can lift your hands while your heart stays numb.
That’s what religion does - it trains you to move without burning.
But the Spirit of revival… He doesn’t want your performance. He wants your pulse.
He wants the sound of your breaking.
The trembling of your “yes” again.
This is not condemnation; it’s invitation.
He’s not calling you out - He’s calling you in.
Back to the place where the altar was never empty.
Back to the hours you once gave Him freely.
Back to the trembling, the awe, the silence that made you weep.
