1. International Passport ( with at least 6 months validity
2. Passport- sized photos(Schengen format
3. Proof of Travel itinerary/plan (flight and accommodation reservations )
4. Travel history (if any )
5. Travel insurance ( make sure it covers the period of your stay in that country or countries
6. Motivation Letter /Letter of Purpose
7. Financial Evidence( bank statements, letter of sponsorship if you are using someone's bank statements
8. Show ties to your home country( employment letter, payslips , proof of property or business ownership, tax payment, family, etc)

Steps:

1. Complete the Visa Application Form: Apply to the embassy or consulate of the country where you plan to spend the majority of your trip or enter first. Check the official website of the embassy or consulate for the visa application form .

2. Gather your documents before you start to apply.

3. Schedule an appointment:
Book an appointment with the embassy or
consulate's visa application centre.

4. Attend the Visa Interview:
Present your application and supporting documents. Provide biometric data (fingerprints and photograph) if required.

5. Pay the visa application fee.

6. Await Processing:
Processing times can vary; it's advisable to apply at least a month before your intended travel date and no earlier than six months in advance.

7. Collect Your Visa:
Once approved, retrieve your passport with the affixed visa from the application centre or embassy.

NB: Take the above checklist seriously , your visa could be denied because of not fulfilling one or more of them. Yes, you can do it by yourself but ask questions from experienced people.
