In our history of over a quarter century, we had the opportunity to watch our clients grow, chase their dreams, diversify and then return to their core strengths. Strategic acquisitions and divestments were very much part of this journey. Here the team at RSA mobilised with speed to carry through this deal for one of our first clients. We had acted for businesses across the Group in core and emerging businesses. This transaction tested our strengths in drafting and structuring and the handling of a bespoke asset class which required consents by the relevant State Authorities, a key step that had to be managed into the sequence. As always we have been fortunate to have the confidence and support of credible founder and owner run Groups with whom we have shared a common history.

There are moments where one could proceed placidly and there are times when grit, speed and depth simply had to be summoned to pull a deal across the line. Where an acquisition target comprised of technology and one needed to ensure ownership, the right of transfer and its fitness for purpose after completion. We were pleased to have come though on this one to deliver a finish by the end of 2025. We now press ahead for a finisher.

Our team continues to press ahead on the real estate front. We were able to conclude a major divestment in Seputeh Hills which will pave the way for another landmark development. As we journey into 2026, our team pressed on with post completion steps while remaining engaged in ongoing initiatives across the region covering a wide asset class.

It was a wonderful ocassion, full of energy and it brought our Managing Partner to a venue opposite his old primary school… it became apparent at some point that he was the only gent in attendance. All the same it was a great evening catching up with old and new friends and in a cause aimed at eliminating the one form of cancer capable of elimination in our lifetime. So … teal was the colour. .kl

At our Deepavali Luncheon each face told a story of a memorable journey. One from my days at MBSKL. Another from our Tuition class in the 1980s. The others came from across sectors - a master jeweller, developers and bankers. We have enjoyed moments that were tense and challenging and others that were immensely enjoyable as we closed deals, navigated disputes, did the unimaginable or simply managed the sort of problems growing businesses face though changes in time, political leadership and change that time brings. I am pleased to have hosted our dear friends from IOI Properties Group, Hong Leong, Sunway, AmBank, Taliworks, Exim, Mah Sing, Citibank, Genting, Astra Zeneca, Public Investment Bank and more. It was a chance for us to screen off, chill, gossip about each other and everyone else. Thanks for a wonderful afternoon and the memories.

We have arrived upon that momentous day. It is Hari Kemerdekaan (Independence Day). The art work on this post does not represent the path to independence which was earned through diplomacy and negotiation. It does perhaps speak of the decades of challenges after - the Confrontation which paved the way for the formation of Malaysia, the emergency and the communist insurgency which ended only after the Cold War. I do not recall this to be a celebration amongst people in my growing up years, but it was a national event of colour, flags and arches and props. Closer to the present it has become a moment of celebration, our office has its traditional National Day luncheon and many others see this as a rallying point for events of sorts. Reaching this age one is reminded of a journey of great memories, climatic times, lost opportunities and society’s changing face sometimes for the better and at times for the worse. I wish us all a great Hari Kemerdekaan - enjoy the weekend and enjoy the journey ahead ☀️☀️☀️

A flood of memories return from the 1980s, through my boyhood yrs, the formative years in practice and beyond as we attended Genting Group’s 60th Anniversary. It is and has been a brave and formidable group built by the late Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong and his family. The torch has passed and will pass again as it carries the legacy forward. We are glad to have shared a long association with the Group both as professionals and as tenants in Wisma Genting and we look forward to many memorable years ahead.
