The Government has announced that a comprehensive reform of Malta’s immigration legislation, including the Immigration Act, is being prepared and is expected to be presented in the coming months. No draft law or implementation date has yet been published, so existing immigration rules and procedures continue to apply.

Malta’s immigration laws are set to be overhauled, with the government aiming to introduce clearer procedures and strengthen protections for people seeking international protection, Home Affairs and Security Minister Glenn Bedingfield has announced.

Long-Term Residence in Malta – Important Reminder!

Applicants for Long-Term Residence are reminded of the importance of providing complete and accurate travel history documentation covering the past 5 years.

We have recently observed that Identità is applying stricter scrutiny when verifying flight tickets and other supporting travel evidence against the chronological travel list submitted and the entry/exit stamps in applicants’ passports.

Missing documents, discrepancies or inconsistencies may result in further clarification requests and could lead to the rejection of an application.

We strongly encourage applicants to review their travel records carefully and ensure that all supporting documentation is available before submission.
