The Liberia School of Law is pleased to announce the appointment of Gerald D. Yeakula, Sr., Esq., as Vice President of the Liberia School of Law.

In a letter conveying the appointment, the Chair of the LSL Board of Trustees, Francis S. Korkpor, Sr., stated that the Board and Management eagerly look forward to working with Professor Yeakula to advance the school’s mission of providing Liberians access to first-rate legal education.

Assistant Professor Yeakula brings to this role extensive academic, professional, and institutional experience, supported by a strong record of leadership, scholarship, and service. He is currently a Doctor of Laws (LLD) candidate at the University of Pretoria, South Africa, where his research focuses on international cooperation against illicit financial flows and its role in advancing the right to development in Liberia and Sierra Leone. He holds a Master of Laws (LLM) in Human Rights and Democratization in Africa from the University of Pretoria, in addition to a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a Bachelor of Science in Economics, both from the University of Liberia. Prior to his appointment, Assistant Professor Yeakula served as a member of the LSL Faculty, contributing meaningfully to teaching, research, and academic development. His appointment is expected to further strengthen the school’s commitment to excellence in legal education, research, administration, and student development.

The Liberia School of Law extends its warm congratulations to Assistant Professor Yeakula and wishes him every success as he assumes this important leadership responsibility.

THROWBACK: LSL at ECOWAS Moot Court 2025 (Abidjan 🇨🇮)

A proud and memorable moment for the Liberia School of Law! 🎓⚖️

This throwback highlight captures the Grand Final of the ECOWAS Moot Court Competition (Abidjan, 2025), where Team Liberia/Côte d’Ivoire (Respondents) emerged victorious against a formidable Team DR Congo/Kenya (Applicants).

The final revolved around the human-rights case Angel Mikpegbo v. State of Mugaye, and the advocacy on both sides was nothing short of impressive. Team Kenya/DRC was exceptionally sharp, well-prepared, and persuasive, making the contest intense, intellectually rich, and worthy of a grand final. The win came not because the opposition was weak—but because the bar was incredibly high on both sides.

Team Liberia/Côte d’Ivoire matched that standard with disciplined legal reasoning, confident courtroom presence, and strategic clarity, ultimately convincing the bench.

This was advocacy at its best—competitive, respectful, and deeply educational. 🇱🇷🇨🇮🤝🇰🇪🇨🇩

📽️ Watch the highlight, relive the intensity, and celebrate African legal excellence.
