🎉 HOME AGAIN — AND PROUD! 🎉

The Liberia School of Law is delighted to announce the safe return of our team from the 35th Edition of the Christof Heyns African Human Rights Moot Court Competition!

Our students represented Liberia with distinction, winning three out of four rounds and earning an impressive average score of 76.1 — a "Very Good" ranking under the competition's official rubric. 📊

To put that achievement in context, the competition scores teams on a scale where 70 to 79 earns a "Very Good" rating — placing our students above "Good" (60–69) and "Average" (50–59), and within reach of the "Excellent" and "Outstanding" tiers. With the highest preliminary-round score across all teams being 83, our 76.1 average places us firmly among the strong contenders on the continent. 🌍⚖️

Beyond the courtroom, our students gained invaluable exposure — engaging with peers from across Africa, exchanging ideas, and taking part in a rich program of intellectual and social activities that will stay with them for years to come.

Out of over 60 law faculties from across the Continent, only four reached the grand finals. Warmest congratulations to the Champions — the Respondent Team of Université Thomas Sankara and GIMPA — who claimed the title with a winning score of 75% — and to the Runners-Up — the Applicant Team of Makerere University and the University of Lagos. A remarkable showing by all. 🏆

We are proud of our students, grateful to everyone who made this journey possible, and inspired for the road ahead. The future of human rights advocacy in Liberia is bright! ✨

🇱🇷 ✈️ 🇨🇮 We've arrived in Abidjan!

The Liberia School of Law is proud to announce that our Moot Court Team has safely arrived in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, to compete in the 35th Edition of the Christof Heyns African Human Rights Moot Court Competition — one of the continent's most prestigious gatherings of legal minds, featuring over 60 participating law faculties from across Africa.

The delegation departed Monrovia on Saturday and touched down the same day at Félix Houphouët-Boigny International Airport in Abidjan, ready to represent our nation with excellence, preparation, and pride.

On Friday, May 29, 2026, the Rule of Law Center at the Liberia School of Law (LSL) held its inaugural lecture, attended by students, faculty members, and invited guests. Associate Justice Yussif D. Kaba of the Supreme Court of Liberia delivered a lecture on the theme, "The Rule of Law and Sustainable Development."

In his presentation, Justice Kaba argued that the rule of law cannot effectively promote sustainable development in Liberia unless longstanding challenges relating to the origins and foundations of the country's legal system are addressed in the modern era. He emphasized that meaningful legal and judicial reform requires deliberate action by the political branches of government, which play a critical role in shaping the legal framework and strengthening institutions necessary for sustainable development.

The lecture provided participants with an opportunity to reflect on the relationship between law, governance, and national development, while advancing the Rule of Law Center's mission of fostering informed dialogue on issues of legal and public importance.

🏆⚖️ VICTORY FOR THE JURISTS! ⚖️🏆

The Liberia School of Law (LSL) Jurists proudly emerged victorious at the African Methodist Episcopal University (AMEU) Graduate School’s Inaugural Sports Day held on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at Ocean Drive, Monrovia.

Our male Jurists claimed the soccer championship after defeating AMEU 1-0, with Ralph Sonkarlay scoring the decisive winning goal for the Jurists. ⚽🔥 The female Jurists also triumphed in the kickball finals with an impressive 11-9 victory over the hosts.

The event brought together institutions including AMEU Graduate School, Cuttington University Graduate School, and the Liberia School of Law in a spirit of unity, discipline, and sportsmanship.

We congratulate our male and female Jurists for proudly representing the Liberia School of Law and continuing our tradition of excellence both inside and outside the classroom. 🎉👏

On Tuesday, May 12, 2026, we had the privilege of hosting Ms. Elina Hammarström for an engaging and insightful session on Gender and Human Rights Law.

The discussion explored critical themes in contemporary women’s rights and international human rights law, including:
• CEDAW and the international legal framework on women’s rights;
• Formal vs. substantive equality;
• Intersectionality in human rights analysis;
• Gender-based violence as a human rights issue; and
• Accountability, access to justice, and contemporary global challenges to women’s rights

Ms. Hammarström brought valuable international experience from her work with the United Nations, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and the European Court of Human Rights, enriching the session with both practical and comparative perspectives.

Special appreciation to Cllr. Alvin W. Yelloway, Assistant Professor of Human Rights Law, for organizing and facilitating this important academic engagement.

The session was further enriched by the active participation, thoughtful questions, and meaningful contributions from students, whose engagement reflected a strong interest in contemporary human rights issues and legal practice.

We remain grateful for the opportunity to learn from distinguished practitioners and to continue advancing critical discussions in human rights education.

The Liberia School of Law (LSL) announces that it is now accepting applications for its Admission Test Slated for June 20, 2026.

The Admission Test Registration Period is open until June 19, 2026.

All interested candidates are required to register for the Admission Test via the school's website at www.liberiaschooloflaw.com or by visiting the Liberia School of Law (LSL) Campus located on the Capitol Bye-Pass near the Conex Gas Station.

Candidates must also pay the Application fee of US$175 by making a deposit into the school’s Eco-Bank Account with Account Name, LSL INC OPERATION ACCOUNT and Account Number, 6102084522.

Please Submit your Deposit Slip in person to the LSL’s Finance Office and get an official receipt.
