On Citizen TV, our Managing Partner, Esther Muchiri, spoke on a national issue we can’t ignore: budgets allocated, but rarely fully implemented.

As lawmakers-in-the-making, we believe legislation can close these gaps and enforce real accountability. Citizens deserve to know where their money goes and leaders must answer for it.

⚖️ BAIL vs BOND — know the difference!
🔓 BAIL = cash or property deposited directly with the court to secure your release while awaiting trial. You pay it yourself.
📋 BOND = a guarantee (often from a surety/bondsman) that you’ll appear in court. A third party pledges to cover it if you don’t show up.
💡 Simply: Bail is what is paid. A bond is a promise to pay. 📌 In Kenya, under the Criminal Procedure Code and the Constitution (Article 49), every arrested person has the right to be released on bond or bail on reasonable conditions. Yet many people — especially from low-income backgrounds — don’t know how to exercise this right. Know your rights. Share this. 🙌
