The High Court of Kenya at Milimani Law Courts today hosted students from Senior Chief Mwangeka Girls Secondary School for an engaging mentorship session aimed at inspiring and nurturing the next generation of legal professionals.

The session was facilitated by Hon. Justice Kennedy Kandet and Hon. Jane Ocharo, Deputy Registrar in the Office of the Registrar High Court, who shared invaluable insights into the legal profession, the mandate of the High Court, and the Judiciary's central role in the administration of justice.

The mentorship programme underscores the Judiciary's commitment to empowering young people through meaningful engagement, and strengthening public confidence in the justice system.

The High Court of Kenya wishes to notify the public that pursuant to the Records Disposal (Court) Rules, the Commercial & Tax Division at Nairobi has issued a Notice of Intended Destruction of Court Records.

The notice covers court records, books and papers filed between 1975 and 2010. The intended destruction will take place three (3) months after 17th July 2026 subject to leave being granted by the Hon. Chief Justice under Rule 3 of the Records Disposal (Court) Rules.

A comprehensive list of the records identified for disposal is available for inspection at the Commercial & Tax Division Registry at Nairobi.

Members of the public who wish to claim the return of any exhibits in the affected cases are advised to do so within the period specified in the notice before its expiry.

The High Court of Kenya at Milimani Law Courts today hosted 150 students from St. Angela's Secondary School, Karura for an engaging mentorship session designed to nurture the next generation of legal professionals.

The session was facilitated by Hon. Jane Ocharo, Deputy Registrar in the Office of the Registrar High Court, who represented the Registrar High Court. The interactive engagement offered the students an opportunity to learn about the legal profession, the role of the High Court in the administration of justice, and Career pathways available for legal professionals.

The mentorship programme reflects the Judiciary's commitment to investing in young people by creating platforms that inspire informed career choices, and foster public confidence in the justice system.

Hon. Lady Justice Esther Maina, Presiding Judge of the High Court at Machakos led a Judiciary delegation on a courtesy call to the County Commissioner of Machakos County. She was accompanied by Hon. Lady Justice J. Mong'are, Hon. Lady Justice N. Adagi, Head of Station Hon.Edna Nyaloti and Hon. D. Endoo, Deputy Registrar.

The courtesy call forms part of the Judiciary's ongoing engagement with key stakeholders aimed at strengthening collaboration and enhancing access to justice.

The Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court of Kenya, Hon. Justice Martha Koome, has established a Tribunals Appeals Division of the High Court at the Milimani Law Courts, effective 1 July 2026.

The new Division, established through Gazette Notice No. 10417 pursuant to Sections 11 and 12(3) of the High Court (Organization and Administration) Act, 2015, will hear appeals arising from Tribunals whose appeals lie to the High Court, with the exception of appeals from the Tax Appeals Tribunal and brings the total Divisions established at the High Court to 10.

The Division is expected to:

* Enhance access to justice by providing a dedicated forum for Tribunal appeals.
* Improve efficiency and reduce delays in the determination of appeals emanating from the Tribunals.
* Promote consistency and predictability in decisions involving specialized Tribunal matters.
* Strengthen the Judiciary's commitment to timely, efficient, and people-centred justice.

For Kenyans, this means a more streamlined Tribunals appeals process, faster resolution of disputes from specialized tribunals, and improved service delivery within the justice system.

This initiative is part of the Judiciary's ongoing reforms aimed at improving institutional efficiency and ensuring that justice is delivered expeditiously, fairly, and in accordance with the Constitution.
