Some conversations change everything 🌱

Addiction often convinces people to suffer in silence. Recovery, however, begins the moment someone is met with understanding, community, and care 🤝🏾

You are not alone. Healing grows when we listen, when we show up, and when we walk together.

At Tumaini Support Program, we believe that support saves lives. Help is available. Support is here.

As we begin a new year, let us choose healing 🌱

Every journey toward recovery starts with a single choice — a choice to seek help, to walk with others, and to believe that a healthier, fuller life is possible. Addiction may isolate, but recovery is strengthened through support, compassion, and community 🤝🏾

At Tumaini Support Program, we continue to stand for dignity, understanding, and hope.

Choose healing. Every step forward matters 💛

C.I. Chelal & Co. Advocates is thrilled to announce the start of a program under its public policy and governance banner, dubbed the Tumaini Support Campaign — a compassionate initiative dedicated to uplifting individuals and families affected by alcoholism. Through our mission of Empowering Lives & Fostering Hope, we are committed to providing psychological support, raising awareness, and advocating for vital policy reforms.

🔹 Mission: The Tumaini Support Campaign is dedicated to supporting individuals and families impacted by alcoholism. We offer empathetic guidance and community-based interventions to foster healing, resilience, and empowerment.

🔹 Vision: We envision a world where every person affected by alcoholism can find strength, understanding, and a path toward recovery. Our aim is to be a beacon of hope, providing essential support to families and individuals facing these challenges.

Our Programs & Activities:

Advocacy: Raising awareness of alcoholism’s impact on families and communities while challenging stigma.

Psychosocial Support: Offering counseling, support groups, and community initiatives to empower individuals and families on the recovery journey.

Policy Intervention: Engaging policymakers to shape a supportive, inclusive environment for all affected by alcoholism.

Why this Campaign Matters 🌍 Alcoholism is a global health crisis: An estimated 400 million people, or 7% of the world’s population aged 15 years and older, live with alcohol use disorders. Of this, 209 million people (3.7% of the adult world population) live with alcohol dependence.

In Kenya: Over 12% of the population engages in harmful alcohol consumption. The problem is particularly prevalent in Central Kenya, parts of Rift Valley, and certain coastal regions.

Alcoholism has far-reaching impacts on families, mental health, and society at large, contributing to increased domestic violence, child neglect, and strained healthcare systems. Support programs are essential to empower families, reduce stigma, and build a healthier, more resilient community.

Together, we can be a source of strength and hope for those facing the impacts of alcoholism.

Join us in spreading awareness and advocating for change! 💙

📢 LEGAL ALERT: High Court Upholds Constitutionality of Housing Levy

In a landmark decision delivered on 22, October 2024, a three-judge bench comprising Justice Olga Sewe, Josephine Chigiti, and Josephine Mong'are upheld the constitutionality of the Housing Act. The High Court affirmed that the Act was enacted with sufficient public participation, making the Housing Levy lawful and compliant with the Constitution.

The Housing Levy will be deducted at the rate of 1.5% of an employee’s gross salary, with employers required to remit a matching 1.5% contribution.

This ruling brings to a close, subject to appeal, the series of attempts to halt the levy and establish the fund.
