Todays' take home is on legal Systems. The major types of legal systems are categorized into 4 namely- Common law, Civil law, Religious law, Customary law.
Here in Kenya we use the Common law System. This is a system that emanates from the British.
In this system we have 2 advocates who represent the interest of their parties before a judge who is seen as a truth finder.
Both parties argue out their cases and present evidence, the judge/magistrate listens, evaluates and finally presents their judgement.

Greetings good people, How is the new month coming along?
Did you know that in Kenya during divorce alimony can be granted by the Court?
What is alimony, you might ask? This is the financial assistance and monetary support provided by one spouse to another after a marriage ends in divorce. Oftentimes, the receiving spouse must be unable to support themselves without the help of their ex-spouse.

Greetings good people, now that the Finance Act is in place are you prepared for the changes that it comes with?
We had a series of discussions on the proposed amendments that had caused an uproar among fellow Kenyans and now they have come to pass.
The Act will take effect as from July 2023 with the amendments now becoming operational. The amendments include, increase in the turnover tax form 1% to 3%, the introduction of digital content monetization and digital asset tax, increased PAYE of persons earning above Kshs 500,000 to 35% among others.

Today I would like us to talk about Companies Limited by Guarantee popularly known as CLG.
A CLG is a company whereby the liability is limited to the amount that a guarantors undertake to contribute in the event of winding up of a company.
A CLG may engage in trading activities but any profit derived from such business must be ploughed back to the activities of the company.
Distribution of profits to the members of the company is prohibited by law.
So essentially CLG are mostly for companies that wants to give back to the community.
