💡 Worked in Japan and trying to apply for a Taiwan Visa?
You might face a big hurdle: "Consular Authentication of your Japanese Employment Certificate."

Since Taiwan is not a party to the Hague Convention, you cannot use an Apostille. In Japan, an employment certificate is treated as a private document, which makes the notarization process incredibly strict and complex—especially if you have already resigned and returned home.

Can an Administrative Scrivener process it all on your behalf?
What if your ex-employer refuses to cooperate?
What is the most realistic solution?

Based on a real case I recently handled, I reached out directly to Taiwan’s Bureau of Consular Affairs (BOCA) to clarify the official rules and jurisdiction traps. I have put together the most detailed guide on how to successfully navigate this process.

【Important Update for SSW (ii) Applicants and Employers!】 🇯🇵📢

There is a significant planned change to the Specified Skilled Worker (ii) status coming in April 2027.

If you are aiming to transition from SSW (i) to (ii), or if you are a company supporting your staff for this career step, please take note of the new Japanese language requirement.

📝 Key Highlights:
New Requirement: From April 1, 2027, a "B1 equivalent" (around JLPT N3) will be mandatory in principle.

Already Required: Food and Beverage Manufacturing & Food Service.

Exempt Industries: Nursing Care, Forestry, Wood Industry, and Linen Supply.

The SSW (ii) status is a great opportunity as it allows for family stays and has no limit on residency renewals. Early preparation for language proficiency will be key!

🛑 Stop suffering in silence! Is your company threatening you for wanting to quit?

"If you quit now, we will sue you for damages."
"Your visa will be canceled, and you will get a Bad Record."
Many foreign workers in Japan are held hostage by these words. But as an Administrative Scrivener (Gyoseishoshi), I want you to know the TRUTH.

The Law protects YOUR right to choose your career:
✅ Indefinite Contracts: You can quit with just 2 weeks' notice. No "permission" is needed. [cite: 2026-03-22]
✅ Contract Breaches (Article 15): If the company broke its promise (salary, training, etc.), you can quit immediately. [cite: 2026-03-22]
✅ The 1-Year Rule (Article 137): Even with a 3-year contract, you have the legal right to quit anytime after working for 1 year. [cite: 2026-03-22]

⚠️ Important Note on Risks:
However, resigning the wrong way can lead to claims for damages if you quit without "unavoidable circumstances" during a 1-year contract. [cite: 2026-03-22] This is why you need a professional to document the FACTS.

At Administrative Scrivener Office Kirin, we don't just "talk" to your company. We provide a legal shield by issuing official notifications that prove the company's breach of contract, protecting you from unjust threats.

Don't let fear decide your future. Get the right knowledge today.👇

📢 Important News for Kaigo (Nursing Care) SSW1 Workers! Your total stay in Japan can now be extended from 5 years to 6 years!

If you are a Specified Skilled Worker No. 1 (SSW1) in the Nursing Care sector and are worried about the 5-year limit, this new update from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) is for you.

✅ What is the "6th Year Extension"? Starting from the 38th National Care Worker Examination , if you meet certain criteria but don't pass the full exam, you can stay for one more year to try again!

✅ Key Requirements to get the extension: In your 5th year, you must take the National Exam and meet these scores:

Take ALL parts of the exam (Important!).

Pass at least 1 part of the exam.

Your total score must be at least 80% of the passing score.

💡 Pro Advice from Kirin Office: Unless you are 100% sure you will pass, we strongly recommend taking ALL parts of the exam. This is a must if you want to use this 1-year extension as a "safety net."

✅ Your Responsibilities: If you receive the extension, you must sign a pledge to:

Study hard and take the next exam.

Change to the "Nursing Care" visa immediately after passing.

Return home if you cannot pass the next time.

✅ Company Support: Your employer must also support you by creating a "Learning Plan" and providing time/materials for your studies.
