🇺🇸 Work in the U.S. — Enter as a Permanent Resident?

We are now accepting inquiries for the U.S. EB-3 Other Workers Program.

Unlike a temporary work visa, EB-3 is an employment-based immigrant pathway.

Qualified applicants complete the immigration process through a real U.S. employer and a permanent full-time job opportunity.

✈️ Once the immigrant visa process is successfully completed and you are admitted to the U.S., you enter as a U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident (Green Card holder).

Key Points:

✅ No high degree required as a general program requirement
✅ English is not an initial hard requirement
✅ Real U.S. employer & full-time position
✅ Spouse and eligible children may also qualify
✅ After 5 years as a permanent resident, you may apply for U.S. citizenship if you meet the naturalization requirements

This may be suitable for people with work experience who are genuinely prepared to work, live and build their future in the United States.

⚠️ EB-3 is a legal employment-based immigration process, not a “buy a Green Card” program. Approval and processing time cannot be guaranteed, and visa availability/backlogs may apply.

📩 Interested? Send us “EB3” for an initial eligibility assessment.

Why Do Japan Visa Lawyer Fees Vary So Much? 🇯🇵

When applying for a Japanese visa or residence status, many people wonder:

“Can I apply by myself?”
“Why does one Gyoseishoshi charge much less than another?”

First, an important point:

👉 Hiring a Gyoseishoshi does not give your application special treatment or guarantee approval.

Whether you apply personally or through a professional, Immigration applies the same legal criteria.

So why can professional fees differ so much?

Sometimes, a lower-cost service mainly covers document preparation—checking forms, organizing supporting documents or preparing explanations. You may still be responsible for submitting the application yourself.

A more comprehensive service may include:

✓ Case and risk assessment
✓ Document review and organization
✓ Explanatory statements
✓ Authorized application submission
✓ Responses to additional document requests
✓ Ongoing case management

So when comparing quotations, don’t just ask:

“How much does it cost?”

Ask:

Who will actually submit my application?
What happens if Immigration requests additional documents?
Are explanations and translations included?
Will there be additional charges later?

And what about experienced offices that regularly handle immigration cases?

Their advantage should not be understood as having a “special relationship” with immigration officers.

The real advantage is usually experience—understanding procedures, anticipating questions, organizing evidence clearly and communicating efficiently when issues arise.

💡 Cheap does not automatically mean bad. Expensive does not automatically mean better.

The real question is:

What exactly are you paying for—and who will be responsible for your case until the end?

Parent Company Employee Working at a Branch Office — Immigration Asked for 3 Additional Documents 😨 What Happened Next?

Receiving a request for additional documents from Japan Immigration can be stressful. Many applicants immediately think:

“Does this mean my application is going to be rejected?”

Not necessarily.

A request for additional documents does not automatically mean rejection. It usually means the immigration officer has questions about the application and needs further evidence or explanation before making a decision.

We recently handled a Japan Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services visa renewal case for two applicants in Nagoya.

The situation was slightly unusual:

👉 They were employed by the parent company
👉 But they were actually working at a branch office

Because the employer and the actual workplace were not presented as a simple, straightforward structure, Immigration requested 3 additional documents during the review.

We analyzed each request individually, identified what Immigration needed clarified, and prepared the supporting documents and explanations accordingly.

Result: approximately 38 days after submission, both applicants received approval at the same time. ✅

What can we learn from this case?

📌 1. The relationship between the employer and workplace must be clearly explained

Who pays the salary?
Who manages and supervises the employee?
Where does the employee actually perform their work?

When a parent company and branch office are involved, the relationship between the entities and the employee’s actual working arrangement should be supported by consistent documentation.

📝 2. Additional documents should answer Immigration’s questions — not simply add more paperwork

The important question is not:

“What documents can we submit?”

It is:

“What exactly is the immigration officer trying to confirm?”

Once that is understood, the additional documents and explanation can be prepared specifically around those concerns.

⚠️ 3. Multiple applications from the same company need consistency

When two employees from the same company apply at the same time, information concerning the company, organizational structure, job duties and other relevant details should remain consistent across both applications.

Contradictory information can create additional questions during the review.

In this case, receiving a request for additional documents was not the end of the application. It was an opportunity to clarify the structure and provide the information Immigration needed to complete its assessment.

Every immigration case is different, and approval cannot be guaranteed based on another applicant’s result. The appropriate response to an additional-document request depends on the circumstances of each case.

If you have received a request for additional documents from Japan Immigration, or have questions about a work visa renewal, feel free to send us a message for consultation.

Can an office of less than 2㎡ get a Business Manager Visa renewal approved? 😳

Most people would probably say: “That sounds risky.”

And honestly… we thought the office size would definitely be one of the key points immigration might question.

But here’s what happened 👇

📍 Office space: Less than 2㎡
📍 Application submitted: End of July
📍 Additional documents requested: 0
📍 Result: APPROVED 🎉

Not only was the Business Manager Visa successfully renewed…

The entire family’s Dependent Visas were approved too. 👨‍👩‍👧

So how did a tiny office pass the review?

The answer is actually something many business owners overlook:

Immigration doesn’t only look at the size of your office. They look at whether your business story makes sense.

Here are the 3 things we focused on 👇

🔹 1. We explained WHY the small office was enough

A small office doesn’t automatically mean a fake or inactive business.

Different businesses require different amounts of space.

We clearly explained the company’s business model, daily operations, and why the existing workspace was sufficient for the actual business activities.

👉 The problem isn’t always a small office.

👉 The problem is when you can’t explain it convincingly.

🔹 2. We answered potential questions BEFORE immigration asked

Office photos.
Lease agreement.
Business operation documents.

Everything needed to support the same story.

Instead of waiting for immigration to question the office size, we proactively addressed the issue in the supporting documents.

Good preparation can prevent unnecessary requests for additional documents.

🔹 3. We checked every number and detail

Financial statements.
Application forms.
Supporting documents.

Everything was cross-checked carefully.

Because sometimes, it’s not the big issue that causes problems…

It’s the small inconsistency between documents that creates doubt. ⚠️

💡 One important reminder:

A small office does NOT automatically mean your Business Manager Visa renewal will be rejected.

But if your office, business model, financial documents, and explanation don’t match — that’s when problems can start.

Every immigration case is different, of course, and results depend on individual circumstances.

But this case is a good example of something we often tell business owners:

Don’t wait for immigration to ask questions. Prepare the answers before they do.

👇 Now I’m curious:

How big is your office in Japan?

And if you’re preparing for a Business Manager Visa application or renewal, has your office space ever been something you’re worried about?

Drop a comment below — I’d love to hear your situation. 👇

Hong Kong Business Registration Costs Increased from April 1, 2026 — Is Your Budget Updated?

An important change has taken effect for companies doing business in Hong Kong.

From April 1, 2026, the Business Registration Levy has been reinstated following the end of the two-year waiver.

The updated costs are:

1-Year Business Registration Certificate
Previous total: HK$2,200
Current total: HK$2,350
Increase: HK$150

3-Year Business Registration Certificate
Previous total: HK$5,720
Current total: HK$6,170
Increase: HK$450

One important distinction: the Business Registration Fee itself has not increased.

The HK$2,200 one-year registration fee remains unchanged. The increase in the total amount payable comes from the reinstated HK$150 annual Business Registration Levy.

This change is relevant not only to newly incorporated Hong Kong companies, but also to:

• Existing companies renewing their Business Registration Certificates
• Businesses registering or maintaining Hong Kong branches
• Corporate groups managing multiple Hong Kong entities

For businesses with several entities or branches, even a relatively small increase per registration can add up across the group.

Finance, administration and corporate services teams should therefore ensure that their 2026 Hong Kong company maintenance budgets and renewal schedules reflect the updated costs.

Before proceeding with an incorporation, registration or renewal, always check the latest official fee schedule and requirements published by the relevant Hong Kong authorities.

Another success of Hakudatsu!!!

We recently supported a client in Fukuoka with the renewal of his Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services visa.

The case presented a particular challenge: part of the client’s work required him to be physically present at work sites. This raised concerns that his duties could potentially be viewed as on-site manual labor, rather than professional work requiring specialized knowledge.

For this visa category, the actual nature of the applicant’s work is extremely important. If the main duties are considered simple or physical labor, the application may face additional scrutiny.

Rather than avoiding this issue, we addressed it directly.

📌 Clear explanation of the applicant’s role

We carefully explained why the client needed to be present on-site and clarified that his primary responsibilities were not manual labor. His role mainly involved technical guidance, project progress management, coordination, and translation/communication.

The key was to clearly demonstrate not only where he worked, but also what he was responsible for and why his professional knowledge and skills were necessary.

📌 Consistent supporting documentation

A strong explanation alone is not enough. We carefully reviewed the client’s job description, daily responsibilities, position within the company, organizational structure, and supporting documents.

Each document was checked to ensure that the information was consistent with the explanation provided in the application.

Eventually, his visa renewal was successfully approved for 3 years.

This case demonstrates an important point for foreign professionals working in Japan: having some on-site responsibilities does not automatically define the entire nature of your job.

When a position contains duties that could potentially be misunderstood, it is important to clearly explain the applicant’s professional responsibilities and support those explanations with appropriate documentation.

At Hakudatsu, we support international professionals and companies in Japan by working closely with qualified specialists to prepare clear, structured, and compliant applications.

📩 If you are facing questions or concerns regarding your visa renewal or employment situation in Japan, feel free to contact us.

Each immigration application is assessed individually. Previous cases and outcomes do not guarantee approval.

🇯🇵 Japan May Strengthen Japanese Language Requirements for GIJIK Visa Applicants

Japan is considering stricter screening standards for the Engineer / Specialist in Humanities / International Services (GIJIK / 技術・人文知識・国際業務) residence status.

Under the proposed changes, Japanese language ability may become an important review factor, particularly for positions that require regular communication in Japanese.

Possible benchmarks may include:

🔹 JLPT N2 or above
🔹 Approximately CEFR B2 level
🔹 BJT Business Japanese Test or other recognized qualifications

The requirement is not expected to apply uniformly to all applicants. The level of Japanese required may depend on the actual duties and communication requirements of each position.

Employers sponsoring foreign professionals may also face greater compliance scrutiny regarding job duties, employment conditions, and labor regulations.

For foreign professionals planning to work in Japan, preparing Japanese language qualifications early may become increasingly important.

Note: These are proposed policy developments. Final requirements may be subject to change.
