We have spent this week covering UK litigation funding - what happened in 2023, why the sector is recovering, and why non-correlated income matters in the current environment.
The final piece: what should you actually look for before committing capital?
Four criteria from our investor guide:
Return parameters stated upfront. You should know the projected income range before you enter - not after. For litigation funding, that means the manager can explain the case selection process, the portfolio construction, and the basis for the projections. Returns of 7-16% annually are achievable in well-managed strategies.
Capital protection you can verify. First-charge security, overcollateralisation, ring-fenced reserves - understand exactly what protects your principal and under what conditions.
Liquidity terms in plain language. Fixed term, defined maturity, clear process for capital return. No ambiguity about when and how you get your money back.
Advice aligned to your actual position. HNW expats in Singapore, Hong Kong, and the UAE each have different tax residency, reporting obligations, and regulatory frameworks. Generic solutions are not solutions.
