क्या न्याय की संवेदनशीलता भी जेंडर देखकर तय होती है?

जब किसी पुरुष की आत्महत्या की खबर आती है, तो समाज अक्सर उसे “कमज़ोरी” कहकर आगे बढ़ जाता है।
लेकिन क्या हर आत्महत्या के पीछे छिपे मानसिक उत्पीड़न, भावनात्मक दबाव और कानूनी संघर्ष को समान गंभीरता से देखा जाता है?

ट्विशा शर्मा केस ने एक बार फिर यह सवाल खड़ा कर दिया है कि —
क्या कानून और समाज दोनों ही मामलों को निष्पक्ष दृष्टि से देख पा रहे हैं?

न्याय का मूल सिद्धांत है —
“हर व्यक्ति को समान संवेदनशीलता और समान सुनवाई।”

किसी भी मामले में बिना तथ्यों के निष्कर्ष निकालना न्याय नहीं, बल्कि पूर्वाग्रह है।
चाहे पीड़ित महिला हो या पुरुष — मानसिक प्रताड़ना, सामाजिक दबाव और भावनात्मक शोषण को हल्के में नहीं लिया जा सकता।

In the legal profession, knowledge of law may earn respect — but empathy, communication, and conduct build trust.

As lawyers, we often meet people during some of the most stressful and vulnerable phases of their lives. Sometimes, what clients remember most is not just the legal advice given, but how they were made to feel during the process.

This made me reflect on a simple lesson from social etiquette: making people feel welcomed, acknowledged, and comfortable matters everywhere — even in professional spaces.

Just like a good host never makes a guest feel “unexpected” or unwanted, a good lawyer must ensure that clients, colleagues, juniors, and even opponents are treated with dignity and respect.

Professional etiquette in law is not limited to courtroom manners. It includes:

• Listening patiently without dismissiveness
• Communicating with sensitivity and clarity
• Respecting people’s time and presence
• Avoiding arrogance, sarcasm, or public embarrassment
• Making clients feel heard, not intimidated
• Building relationships with warmth and professionalism

At the end of the day, people may forget legal jargon or technicalities, but they will always remember how they were treated.

In every profession — especially ours — humanity remains the finest form of professionalism.
