New Airport Terminal Will Give Major Ridership Push To Nagpur Metro’s Quietest Station
Nagpur: The GMR-led international airport modernisation project is expected to provide a major boost to MahaMetro's New Airport Metro Station, currently among the least-utilised stations on the network despite its advanced infrastructure.
Officials said passenger traffic at the station is likely to rise sharply after the airport upgrade because of its strategic location and proposed integration with the upcoming terminal.
"MahaMetro will work closely with airport developers and consultants from the planning stage to ensure seamless connectivity with both the existing and proposed terminals," MahaMetro managing director Shravan Hardikar told TOI.
"Discussions will cover infrastructure integration, feeder services, and commuter amenities to deliver a world-class travel experience," he said.

Rs150cr earmarked for Nagpur Metro;network may grow to 150km by 2047
Nagpur: Nagpur Metro has been allocated Rs150 crore in the Maharashtra government's budget for 2026-27, with the state simultaneously unveiling an ambitious long-term roadmap to expand Metro rail networks across its major cities to around 1,200km by 2047.
The allocation has been made under the head ‘Equity of State Government in Nagpur Metro Rail Project', according to the budget documents. Even last year, Rs150 crore was allocated for the Nagpur Metro project. Against this broader vision, senior officials from MahaMetro indicated that Nagpur's Metro network could eventually expand to 150km by 2047.
