NDIAN SUPREME COURT ASKS COPS TO TREAT S*X WORKERS WITH DIGNITY:

The supreme Court of India has asked cops to treat s*x workers with dignity.A bench presided by Justice L Nageswara Rao also asked the Centre to spell out its stand on recommendation by a panel appointed by it in 2011 to exempt s*x workers — who are adults and participates with consent — from criminal action.

It is noted that on July 19, 2011, the court had ordered setting up of a panel headed by senior advocate Pradip Ghosh as chairman to suggest measures to prevent trafficking, rehabilitate s*x workers who wish to leave it, and also to make conditions conducive for s*x workers who wish to continue working to do that with dignity.
The bench, also comprising Justices B F Gavai and A S Bopanna, asked states and Union Territories to “act in strict compliance of” some of these “recommendations”, which “relate only to rehabilitation measures in respect of s*x workers and other connected issues”. The bench said, “It need not be gainsaid that notwithstanding the profession, every individual in this country has a right to a dignified life under Article 21 of the Constitution.

Constitutional protection that is given to all individuals in this country shall be kept in mind by the authorities who have a duty under Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act,1956.

THE UNORGANIZED LABOUR WELFARE BOARD FOR THE SURVIVORS OF THE S*X WORK AND THE HUMAN TRAFFICKING:

The term unorganized worker has been defined under the Unorganized Workers' Social Security Act, 2008, as a home based worker, self-employed worker or a wage worker in the unorganized sector and includes a worker in the organized sector who is not covered by any of the Acts mentioned in Schedule-II of Act.

The Unorganized Labor Welfare Boards are the Welfare Boards run by the certain Indian state governments for the social security of unorganized workers in their state. Members of the board receive a variety of benefits and benefits, including pensions, maternity leave, scholarships, marriage grants, government insurance, and death benefits while on the job.

The concerned authorities should take steps for the rehabilitation of the Survivors of S*x Work & Human Trafficking and should form the Unorganized Labor Welfare Boards for this deprived community as they are also the part of the society and should end their life peacefully during their old age time.

THE LIFE OF S*X WORKERS IN SONAGACHI :

In Bengali, Sona Gachi means 'Tree of Gold'.Sonagachi is a neighbourhood in Kolkata, India, located in North Kolkata near the intersection of Jatindra Mohan Avenue with Beadon Street
and Sovabazar, about one kilometre north of the Marble Palace area.

When volunteers met the S*x workers in Sonagachi, they told with anguish that none of the political party is helping them to uplift them in life. We hard that some of the s*x workers have benefitted from the West Bengal Government's Muktir Alo ('light of freedom') scheme and still hundred and thousands of workers are waiting and expecting the benefit from the government.

These s*x workers don’t want their kids to come to the same profession and told that they want their female children to be educated and get a good job or at least some jobs to live with honour even through a self-help group.

In our finding we understood that from Sonagachi most of them are commercial s*x workers and rightly or wrongly fall in this profession, though they want to come out of it the as the family, relatives, the neighbours are not ready to accept them the circumstance has let them to swim in the same gutter and to run the life till having the last breath.

It is unfortunate that the approaches towards s*x workers in India and in other SAARC Countries are totally different from the s*x workers of the European and other western countries. As India is a country with rituals, and the orthodox customs and the convention bot the family and the society refusing to accept s*x workers as part of the family members even after they changed their mind and decided to mingle with the mainstream.

This kind of aspects should be changed and society should come forward to accept them if they decided to come and mingle with society. Now we are able to see a good change in the life of transgender and the family and the society getting an awareness gradually the condition of the transgender. Nowadays almost all state governments are helping the transgender to come up in life and because of this kind of moral supports from the NGOs and the government, they are not going to the previous begging and the s*x work. The s*x workers also expecting help from the related government and the social welfare departments.

Let us jointly serve and take steps to light a candle in the life of the s*x workers in India and Asia too by way of helping and giving counselling and by way of educating them and apart from that giving good education to the children of the s*x workers.
