SWEARING-IN CEREMONY OF NEW CHIEF JUSTICE, BOMBAY HIGH COURT
TO BE HELD TOMORROW
Mumbai: In furtherance to his recent appointment as the Chief Justice of Bombay High Court, Shri Dipankar Datta is all set to sworn-in at the small ceremony arranged on 28th April, 2020 at 5:00 pm in Rajbhavan’s Banquet Hall amid Lockdown 2.0 imposed due to global spread of pandemic Covid19. It is, however, clarified by the state chief secretary that all norms of Lockdown and social distancing as are in place in the state shall be strictly followed in the ceremony.
Being a low-profile event, the swearing-in ceremony will be attended by very small number of guests of less than 35 attendees including Governor- Shri Bhagat Singh Koshyari, CM – Uddhav Thackeray, Leader of Opposition Shri Devendra Fadnavis, the newly appointed CJ’s wife and sons.
The newly appointed Chief Justice, Bombay High Court - Shri Dipankar Dutta is from Calcutta High Court. He belongs to a Bengali family having strong legal background. His father Late. Shri Salil Kumar Datta, was a former Judge of the High Court at Calcutta. His brother-in-law Justice Amitava Roy, is a former Judge of the Hon. Supreme Court of India.
