Biswajit Sarkar law firm was founded in 1990 in Kolkata, India as an Intellectual Property Law Firm. Our exposure to the complexities in the ambit of Intellectual Property Law gave us the impetus and inspiration to diversify into other streams such as Corporate Affairs, International Trade and Information Technology. As a consequence, we are now rendering a wide array of legal services to clients

in India and overseas. We are experienced in handling international legal matters and empanelled with U. Consulate Kolkata, British Deputy High Commission Kolkata and French Trade Commission in India. We are associated with prominent foreign and national chambers of commerce. To meet the increasing demand, we have established a multi-city presence in prominent commercial hubs in India. On February 13, 2026, a visit was undertaken to engage with the Management of National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT - Kolkata), an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India to organize awareness program on IPR for fashion technology students.

A focused discussion was held with Dr. Sumantra Bakshi, Joint Director and Biswajit Sarkar, Senior IP Attorney on awareness of Intellectual Property Rights within professional fashion education. The deliberation underscored the critical role of design protection to safeguarding creativity.

It was mutually discussed that a series of collaborative programs - including expert lectures, awareness workshops and capacity-building sessions which will be conducted in association with Biswajit Sarkar, Advocates - IP Attorneys.

On January 13, 2026, a Question & Answer session on Intellectual Property Rights was organised by EEPC India, Kolkata in association with Biswajit Sarkar, Advocates - IP Attorneys at the EEPC Auditorium, Kolkata. The program was conducted in hybrid mode and witnessed participation from representatives of leading engineering companies across India along with several industry experts attending physically.

The session was conducted by Ms. Jaya Basu, Regional Director, EEPC India, Kolkata. The expert panel included Mr. Hemant Khosla, Assistant Registrar of Trade Marks Registry, Government of India, Ms. Agnita Banerjee, Senior Examiner, Trade Marks Registry, Kolkata and Mr. Biswajit Sarkar, Senior IP Attorney.

The interactive Q&A session covered various issues related to Trade Marks, Patents, Copyrights and the influence of Artificial Intelligence in the respective fields. The program was well received for its focus on business-oriented approach.

On November 15, 2025, Biswajit Sarkar, IP Attorney, visited the prestigious Law Department of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) - Asia’s largest residential university and one of India’s most distinguished epitomes of legal education.

During the visit, he had an engaging interaction with Prof. C.P. Upadhyay, Dean, Faculty of Law, along with the distinguished professors Dr. Shailendra Kumar Gupta, Dr. Rajneesh Kumar Patel, Dr. Naveen Sukumaran, Dr. Prabhat Kumar Saha, Dr. Dolly Singh, Gurwinder Singh, Dr. Raju Majhi, and Saurabh Sahu.

A large group of students, including members of the Internship Committee, actively participated in the interactive session. discussions on practical aspects of Intellectual Property Law.

The discussion also explored a collaborative partnership between BHU Law Department and Biswajit Sarkar, Advocates – IP Attorneys to enhance hands-on learning and strengthen practical training in IP law. The visit marked a meaningful step toward academic–industry synergy in the field of Intellectual Property Law.
