The rising price of coconut oil has caused a large proportion of once-dedicated-coconut-oil-consumers to settle for other alternatives. Taking advantage of this situation, some coconut oil brands – under the false impression of being pure and unmixed, sell adulterated oil in the market. Taste and cooking benefits aside, these oils have extreme ill effects on our health too. As flag bearers of the
coconut oil industry the Coconut Oil & Copra Producers Co-operative Society took it as their responsibility to initiate the Save Coconut forum to educate the public on the ill-effects of theses adulterated oils, and endorse pure coconut oil and other coconut products to the consumers of Kerala. Promote production and use of coconut, coconut oil and its other by-products in India and abroad.
2. Educate people and create social awareness about the healthy qualities of coconut, coconut oil and its other by-products.
3. Take up issues relating to coconut, coconut oil and its other by-products and find solutions for it in every possible manner. Which includes notifying the government, authorities and through courts whenever necessary.
4. Campaign for promotion of coconut, coconut oils and its other by-products and counter any malicious campaigns professing danger from the use of the same.
5. Liaison with carious authorities, organizations, companies, business establishments for the genuine promotion of coconut oil and its other by-products and ensure that coconut oil and its other by-products are available in the purest form.
6. Take up issues regarding adulteration of coconut oil and its by-products, and to ensure that those responsible for the same are prosecuted and thus, protect the purity and sanctity of coconut.
7. Fight the menace of corruption rampant in the government departments, areas of promotion, development and marketing of coconut, coconut oil and other by-products of coconut in the society.
8. Compel the state to promote growing of coconut trees, and provide for promotion of pure coconut oil and other coconut-products and also to take care of the welfare of employees engaged in coconut farming and production of coconut oil and other coconut products.
9. Take up the issues of adulteration and do all necessary for prosecution of those involved liaisoning with statutory authorities to bring to book those responsible.
10. Conduct campaigns and awareness among people by all possible means to promote coconut, coconut oil and its other by-products.
11. Promote the state as a coconut producing state and preserve the tradition of the state with relevance to coconut, coconut oil and its other by-products.
