Principal Sessions Court Jammu Rejects Bail Plea of Kamal Singh in Alleged Attempt-to-Murder Case Involving Dr. Farooq Abdullah

Jammu, July 17: The Principal Sessions Court, Jammu, has rejected the bail application of Kamal Singh, the accused in the alleged attempt-to-murder case involving National Conference president Dr. Farooq Abdullah.

Kamal Singh is accused of opening fire at Dr. Farooq Abdullah during a wedding function in Jammu in March 2026. The incident was foiled by security personnel, and the accused was arrested on the spot. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) later filed a chargesheet against him in the case.

With the rejection of his bail plea by the Principal Sessions Court, the accused will continue to remain in judicial custody as the trial proceeds.

In a landmark ruling, the Raipur District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission directed Maruti Suzuki and its dealer to either replace a customer’s Grand Vitara with an E20-compatible model or pay over ₹21.6 lakh in compensation.

The owner had alleged that the vehicle suffered recurring engine damage due to the use of E20 petrol. While Maruti Suzuki denied any connection between the fuel and the reported issues, the consumer court ruled in favour of the owner.

The verdict is being regarded as India’s first known consumer court ruling related to the E20 fuel rollout
