In a world that’s constantly changing and sometimes overwhelming, it’s okay to feel everything you’re feeling—whether it’s joy, exhaustion, hope, or uncertainty. Your emotions are valid.
Amid the global challenges and personal battles we all face, let’s pause to bring compassion to ourselves and to those around us.
May this Christmas remind us of the beauty in community, the strength in kindness, and the magic in simply being there for one another.
Merry Christmas! 🎁

Sometimes when we face challenges, we don’t see the skills we have developed or the strength that has emerged as we navigate through it.
This strength may be something less obvious - like being able to come back to the drawing board, holding on to hope, engaging in self care, reaching out for support, regulating one’s emotions and even reminding oneself to take a deep breath when dysregulated.

Throughout 2024, there may have been some challenges you experienced - what was that one strength you didn’t know you had that you witnessed yourself employ?

In a society that only lauds “success”, how do we make sense of failure?
As we look back on 2024, let’s really look at the moments we feel that success or winning was not in sight. Maybe there were some goals we have not met, some challenges that came up, or moments that we feel we just didn’t do enough, or lost out on.
When we think about these moments - it’s important to reframe the thoughts we have, and pause to ponder -

“What does success really mean to me right now?
What did I learn from this moment?
What skills did I see myself using?
Do I need to revisit the goal I set, with my circumstances in mind?”

Instead of viewing failure as a setback, let’s reframe it as an opportunity to learn and grow. Too often, falling short of someone else’s expectations leads us to equate it with our self-worth. It’s time to change that narrative and embrace the wisdom that setbacks bring.

So today, let’s invite in a pause of self-compassion and honor the journey so far, recognizing that failure is not the end but a stepping stone to greater self-awareness.

Breathe in and out, and acknowledge how far you’ve come.
Remember, this year has witnessed you grow and build on your skills and strength.

As 2024 draws to a close, let’s take a moment to pause and reflect on our individual journeys. Growth is a personal experience, unique to each of us, and unfolds in its own time. For some, it follows a straight path, while for others, it weaves and winds unpredictably. No matter the shape or direction, every step forward matters, even when progress is subtle, hidden, or takes a form we are not able to recognize.
Growth isn’t always obvious; sometimes, it’s found in the quiet moments of resilience, the lessons learned from challenges, or the courage to begin again. As we step into 2025, let us carry the wisdom and strength we’ve gained, embracing our journeys with gratitude. Here’s to celebrating every milestone, big or small, and moving forward with renewed hope and purpose.

When discussing gender-based violence and violence against women, it is crucial to address the abuse that occurs in intimate relationships, particularly marital r**e. The significance of consent within marriage must be emphasized, as it is deeply connected to women’s constitutional rights.
This year, cases such as Hrishikesh Sahoo v. State of Karnataka & Ors. questioned the marital r**e exception in Indian criminal law. The case focused on the constitutionality of Exception 2 of Section 375 of the Indian Penal Code (now Section 63 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita), which excludes non-consensual s*x within marriage from being defined as r**e, provided the wife is over the age of fifteen.
The court also raised concerns about the practical implications of criminalizing marital r**e and deliberated on the broader interpretation of “s*xual acts” under Section 63(b) of the BNS. Meanwhile, the Union argued that such criminalization would be “excessively harsh,” neglecting women’s constitutional rights.
As we observe the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, it is vital to acknowledge marital r**e as a grave violation of women’s rights and dignity. This campaign reminds us to challenge societal norms and legal systems that perpetuate such injustices. Let us use this time to advocate for the universal recognition of consent, foster awareness, and demand accountability to create a safer and more equitable world for all.
