Earlier this week, we shared a scenario where Employee A was commenting and linking Employee B's probable mental health issue with her physical appearance (smiling & dressed attractive), thereby making her feel uncomfortable.

Here’s our analysis—unpacking how such comments may be examined under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (commonly known as the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013), and what this means for workplace dignity, boundaries, and consent.

The “POSH & Mental Health: Understanding the Psychosocial Realities of Redressal”, is a 90-minute interactive session designed to explore the intersection of workplace sexual harassment law and mental health. Facilitated by Samriti Makkar Midha on 23rd May 2026 (11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.), the program moves beyond compliance with the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2013, to examine the human experience of redressal.
The session will highlight the emotional, psychological, and social impact of sexual harassment and workplace distress on complainants, respondents, witnesses, and Internal Committee (IC) members.
Key themes include barriers to reporting, trauma and re-traumatisation, vicarious stress among IC members, and the role of organisational culture in shaping perceptions of safety.
By the end of the session, participants will gain a deeper understanding of POSH beyond compliance, develop skills to navigate distress with clarity and sensitivity, and strengthen workplace systems that support both legal and psychosocial wellbeing.
