Why do we test every socket during a new build snag inspection when the property has already been certified?π
Because this is exactly why.
A new build handover will typically come with electrical certification, BCAR documentation, commissioning certificates and other compliance paperwork. However, our role during a snag inspection is to act as an extra layer of protection for the buyer before they take the keys.
In this video, the first socket shows the correct result with two green lights.
The second socket shows a live/neutral reverse fault, meaning the polarity at the socket may be incorrect and requires review by a registered electrician.
This is why we donβt just visually inspect sockets β we physically test them.
These issues can happen, even in certified new builds, and they are exactly the type of defect a thorough snag inspection is designed to pick up before completion.
