Through the lens of Why Hong Kong, audiences from different places are invited to experience Hong Kong from different perspectives.

As an international financial centre and one of the world’s freest economies, what distinctive international advantages does Hong Kong possess—and how can these be understood in a way thats more related to daily lives?

I am truly honoured to have the opportunity to share my perspectives in the upcoming season of this short-video series, in my capacity as a founding partner of a Hong Kong law firm.

【回顧：「友」妳啟導友師計劃 第一屆畢業禮暨第二屆啟動禮】

昨天大清早在高雄登上返港的航班，抵港後直奔這畢業禮暨啟動禮的場地。

上年，為促進女性職場發展，行政長官在《 #2024年施政報告》中宣布 #民政及青年事務局 推出 『友』妳啟導」友師計劃，為有志投身 #專業行業 或 #商界 的本港女大學生配對 #女性領袖友師，並提供相關培訓及活動，培育未來「半邊天」的力量。計劃旨在 #賦能 年輕女性大學生，協助她們提升技能、建立 #自信 及 #人際網絡，為她們投入 #職場 做好準備。我有幸成為當時 50多位友師中其中一位。

今年，計劃再接再勵，從第一屆計劃有53名女性領袖擔任友師，與超過80名學員配對，到這第二屆計劃匯聚超過70名女性領袖擔任友師，以及120名同學成為學員。我很榮幸，再次出任本屆的友師。本屆我的兩位學員都是讀法律的，得上一屆的學員陪同，本屆兩位學員初次與我交流，感到他們更主動願意分享自己的想法和意見。期待在後續日子與4位學員更多「教學相長」。

活動上遇上其他學員主動前來打招呼，有的說在面試見過我，有的說曾在其他活動上見過我，並說希望有機會與我繼續交流，我當然歡迎啦~~

【Throwback: “She Inspires” Mentorship Programme First Cohort Graduation Ceremony and Second Cohort Launch Ceremony】

Yesterday boarded an early-morning flight from Kaohsiung back to Hong Kong, I headed straight from the airport to the venue for the First Cohort Graduation Ceremony and Second Cohort Launch Ceremony.

Last year, to promote women’s development in the workplace, the Chief Executive announced in the 2024 Policy Address that the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau would launch the “She Inspires” Mentorship Programme. The programme pairs Hong Kong female university students who aspire to pursue careers in the professions or business with female-leader mentors, and provides relevant training and activities to nurture the next generation of women leaders.

The programme aims to empower young female university students by helping them enhance their skills, build confidence and expand their networks, so that they are better prepared to enter the workplace. I was honoured to be one of the more than 50 mentors in the inaugural cohort.

This year, the programme has gone from strength to strength. The first cohort brought together 53 female-leader mentors, who were matched with more than 80 mentees. The second cohort has expanded to include over 70 female-leader mentors and 120 student mentees. I am truly honoured to serve again as a mentor in this year’s cohort. My two mentees this year are both law students. Together with my mentees from the first cohort, they met with me for the first time. I was delighted by how proactive they were in sharing their views, ideas and aspirations. I look forward to more meaningful exchanges and mutual learning with all four mentees in the months ahead.

I was also delighted to meet other mentees who reached out proactively at the event. Some said they had met me during interviews, while others had seen me at previous activities. They expressed their hope of staying in touch — and of course, they are most welcome!

全國人大常委會於2026年8月通過《中華人民共和國律師法》修正草案，將 #粵港澳大灣區律師執業 試點制度 #正式常態化，並於今日 (9月1日) 起施行。

重點內容落實
#恆常執業 ：新增條文允許通過大灣區律師執業考試並取得內地執業資格的港澳律師，取得長遠穩定的法律依據，不再僅屬短期試點。
執業 #地理範圍：取得資格的港澳律師可在廣東省大灣區內地九市（廣州、深圳、珠海、佛山、惠州、東莞、中山、江門、肇慶）從事規定範圍內的民商事法律業務。
實質 #業務權限：可辦理部分適用內地法律的民商事事務、擔任訴訟代理人出庭應訴，以及代理區內仲裁案件。
官方數據顯示，截至2026年6月已有逾650名港澳律師取得執業證。我自己也是其中一員。

剛過去的週末，以大家的香港律師會副會長角色，在深圳法律博覽會 第二天，就「涉外法務團隊建設及外聘律師管理」議題分享一些想法。未來企業之間的競爭，不僅是市場競爭，更是合規能力、風險管理能力，以及整合全球法律資源能力的競爭。能夠更早建立涉外法務體系、更有效整合內部法務與外聘律師團隊，就更有能力在全球市場行穩致遠。

期待香港可以更好地發揮其獨特角色，與各位一起發展進步。

The Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress passed amendments to the Lawyers' Law of the People’s Republic of China, formally making the Greater Bay Area legal practice pilot scheme for Hong Kong and Macao lawyers a permanent arrangement. The amendments took effect today, 1 September.

The key developments are as follows:
Permanent practice arrangement: The new provisions provide Hong Kong and Macao lawyers who have passed the Greater Bay Area Legal Professional Examination and obtained Mainland practice qualifications with a long-term and stable legal basis for practice, rather than one confined to a time-limited pilot scheme.

Geographical scope: Eligible Hong Kong and Macao lawyers may practise within the nine Mainland municipalities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area: Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Huizhou, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen and Zhaoqing.

Substantive scope of work: They may handle specified civil and commercial matters governed by Mainland law, act as litigation representatives in court proceedings, and represent parties in arbitrations within the region.

Official data show that, as of June 2026, more than 650 Hong Kong and Macao lawyers had obtained the relevant practice certificates. I am one of them.

Over the past weekend, in my capacity as Vice-President of The Law Society of Hong Kong, I shared some thoughts on “Building Foreign-Related Legal Teams and Managing External Counsel” on the second day of the Shenzhen Legal Expo. Looking ahead, competition among enterprises will not be limited to competition in the marketplace. It will also be a competition of compliance capability, risk-management capacity, and the ability to integrate legal resources globally. Businesses that establish a foreign-related legal framework earlier, and that more effectively coordinate their in-house legal teams with external counsel, will be better positioned to navigate global markets steadily and sustainably.
