Making statements in an emotional state can never be wise. You may say things you regret. You may say things that are misconstrued. This is why I have taken time to consider what I want to say and how.
The last 96 hours have been a whirlwind. A mixture of feelings. Immense pain. Sadness. Feeling useless. Scared. Angry. Horrified. Worry for my parents. My sister. My grandma. I have never felt like this before. This feeling isn’t going anywhere, anytime soon.
I will start by saying that the loss of any innocent life is a disaster. Babies, children, the elderly. Israeli, Palestinian, Jews, Muslims. This is not acceptable.
If, when considering the loss of innocent life, you have a response of “yes but…” then you need to take a long hard look at yourself. Justifying the r**e of women, the kidnapping of babies and the elderly, the burning of people and the beheading of individuals is NOT acceptable. I don’t care who you are, where you come from, what your political stance is, what faith you believe in, what colour your skin is. IT IS NOT OK. IT IS INHUMANE.
Hamas, which was voted into power by the Palestinian people, is the ruling power of Gaza. Here is a statement that I think is important for those who are not familiar with Hamas to understand their views and beliefs in their own words towards Israel:
“Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it.”
This is who we are dealing with. Hamas, as confirmed by the UN, the USA, the UK, and others, are a terrorist organisation. Just like Al-Qaeda, just like ISIS.
Just like us Jews stood by America, France, Spain, the UK. It is time the rest of the world stand with Israel. Help us in the worlds battle to erase another terrorist organisation.
To finish with one final quote:
“If Hamas put down their weapons, there will be peace. If Israel puts down their weapons, there will be no Israel.”
I stand with Israel. I stand with the fight to end terror. I stand for peace.
