So let us ask you all a question:

How many of you have directly or know of others who have experienced the trauma that is the dreadful illness of Alzheimer’s and Dementia whether they be relatives, friends or colleagues?

So you have worked hard all of your life and written your will with a view to avoiding Inheritance Tax, where possible, and leaving as much of your estate to your beneficiaries as possible.

And then the unthinkable happens and you lose mental capacity to manage your own affairs resulting in a Deputy being appointed by the Court of Protection to manage your affairs for you.

You spouse, civil partner, partner and or children are pushed to one side and whilst they know you better they can only help you by applying to the High Court to remove the appointed Deputy.

In the meantime all of your hard work and plans are undone by the said Deputy for no other reason that they are obliged to make decisions on your behalf and to protect you as a vulnerable person.

This means that your estate may change dramatically and those whom you wish to benefit under your will may not do so and those that you did not wish to may do so and at the very least could contest your will and challenge it.

By executing and registering a Property & Financial Affairs LPA all of this is avoided.

It is a simple solution so take it.....

Hi All. Would just like to touch on the benefits of executing a Lasting Power of Attorney whilst you still can because when you cannot you will also not be able to make decisions about where you live, what medical care you receive, who looks after you, who pays your bills and it will not matter who you intended to inherit your estate because most of it will have been taken by the council to cover the cost of care fees......
