If you have been putting off insulating your solid walls due to the upheaval of internal wall insulation, then hear me out. We have been insulating solid walled homes from the inside since 2013. We are good at it now. We work round you, we make as little mess as possible, we clean as we go, and we leave you with a smooth plaster finish on all external walls to work with. If you work with us, we can be in and out in a few days.

What's more, holding out for External Wall Insulation may be a complete waste of time, and just end up leaving you frustrated at the amount of dosh you wasted. EWI is typically 3-4 times more expensive than IWI, and that's why it's only possible to fully fund this measure on larger off gas properties, where we get far more funding to work with.

I get why some might baulk at the idea of the scale of work, but it just makes financial sense. In many cases we can even offer you a little cash towards your decorating bills. The Government's response to the ECO Plus consultation was released as part of the "Powering Up Britain" campaign on March 30.

The Great British Insulation Scheme, formerly ECO Plus, will run from 2023 to 2026 with an anticipated spend of £1 billion, improving around 300,000 homes, and helping homeowners save £300-400 per year on average. The new scheme will mainly focus on single energy-efficient measures such as insulation and heating controls, unlike ECO4, which is more comprehensive.

The scheme will be available to households in Great Britain, including low-income groups and general groups. Up to 20% of the scheme will be directed towards the low-income group, with up to 80% of that group able to be delivered through GBIS flexible eligibility. A "general group" will also be created, which will consist of those living in homes with an EPC rating D-G and within Council Tax bands A-D in England and A-E in Scotland and Wales. There will be no requirement to improve homes by a set number of EPC bands, and households can only access GBIS once.

The scheme is not yet operational, but if you complete our short form we will give you a call and go through what we know so far, and discuss your requirements so we can get the ball rolling quickly. Remember these funds are limited. Once it's gone it's gone.
