I’m absolutely thrilled to share that Fountain Wills has recently been nominated for Best New Business at the Legal Growth Awards 🎉

When I launched my business, it was built on a simple goal – to make will writing and estate planning more client-focused, to me it is all about the client. To now be recognised for that journey is incredibly special.

Starting and growing a business in the legal sector on your own comes with its challenges, but it has also been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. I’m so proud of how far I've come in such a short space of time. Thank you to each and every client and partner that has trusted Fountain Wills with such important and personal matters. Your recommendations, kind words and continued support mean more than you know. This nomination wouldn’t be possible without you 🙏🏻

Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way. You know who you are 😉

Onwards and upwards! 🚀

Yes, that is correct. The husband, wife or civil partner keeps all the assets (including property), up to £322,000, and all the personal possessions, whatever their value.

The remainder of the estate will be shared as follows:

50% to the husband, wife or civil partner and

50% is divided equally between the surviving children. This includes adopted children but does not include step-children.

Another lovely client review. Mr & Mrs Vaughan wanted their Wills updated and when reviewing their documents I identified that their alerting Power of Attorney's had not been registered 😖🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ That is one of the benefits of a free will review with me.

Reasons to update your Will right now ⬇️

✅You get married – your old Wills will automatically be revoked so you definitely need new Wills drafted.

✅You are getting divorced and you want to make sure your soon to be ex-husband or wife does not inherit anything from you.

✅Your family circumstances have changed for example, you may have children who are now over 18 and your old Wills still have guardians appointed for them. You might also have children or grandchildren that you need to include in your Will.

✅A beneficiary, an executor or trustee has passed away.

✅Your financial circumstances have changed. Inheritance tax may now be an issue that needs to be considered.

✅The passage of time – your Wills may simply be outdated and now not fit for purpose.

If you would like a free review of your current Will or would like to discuss making a Will, please email me at [email protected] or send me a DM.

Another lovely client review. It is always great to receive positive feedback but the best part is knowing that I have helped someone do something they have been meaning to do for a long time and ✅ something off their list.

I don't know about you but my list is never ending ... as soon as something comes off it, something else goes on it, but that doesn't mean I don't feel that sense of achievement when I know something has been done.

Aiming to get quite a few ticked off this summer. One of which is decluttering the playroom 🧸🪀🚂🦖 wish me luck😖

What have you got on yours?

Will Writers and solicitors often talk about making “joint” or “mirror” Wills. For example, a married couple might make Joint/Mirror Wills.

Mirror wills are a popular choice for couples—typically spouses or long-term partners—who want to leave their estates to each other and then to the same beneficiaries after both have passed away. These wills are nearly identical (or “mirror” each other), with each partner naming the other as the main beneficiary and often appointing the same executors and substitute beneficiaries.

Clients often think that these Wills are actually one document when in fact you still need two separate Wills. The husband needs a Will and the wife needs a Will.

They are called “joint” Wills or “mirror” will because you are making them together and they are similar to each other. For example, you and your spouse want to make Wills leaving everything to each other and eventually to your children. These Wills will be identical and include the same things and thus mirror each other. So this is reason we call them Mirror Wills.

One couple can't have one Will. You must each have your own Will.

If you would like a free consultation to review your existing wills or getting wills in place, please get in touch.
