Estate planning should not begin with somebody telling you which document to buy.

It should begin with your circumstances.

Your family.

What matters to you.

And anything you want to feel better prepared for.

That is why I like to get to know the families I speak with before explaining what options may be relevant.

My approach is to listen first, ask the right questions and make the process feel less daunting.

The document comes later.

Understanding your situation comes first.

An LPA is not only about completing a legal document.

There is also a very personal decision behind it.

Who would you choose to help you make decisions, or make them on your behalf if needed?

An LPA allows you to appoint one or more attorneys.

That decision deserves thought.

It should be someone appropriate for the responsibility and someone you feel comfortable appointing.

You do not have to make that choice because somebody else has told you who it β€œshould” be.

Your circumstances are your own.

And the conversation should give you enough clarity to make an informed decision.

Give me a ring if choosing an attorney is one of the things you would like to talk through.

β€œDo I just need one LPA?”

It is a useful question because there are actually two different types in England and Wales.

- A Health and Welfare LPA relates to decisions about matters such as medical care and your daily routine.

- A Property and Financial Affairs LPA covers matters such as managing accounts, paying bills and dealing with property.

You can make one type or both.

The important part is understanding what each one does before deciding what may be appropriate for your circumstances.

Lasting Powers of Attorney are also one of the services Elle most commonly helps families with.

Clear information first.

Decisions second.

Send me a message if you would like the two types explained more clearly.

Life rarely stays exactly the same.

Families grow.

Relationships change.

You might move home or simply realise that the wishes you wrote down years ago no longer reflect life today.

That is why having a Will does not always mean you can forget about it forever.

HMRC recommends reviewing a Will every five years and after major life changes such as marriage, separation, divorce, having a child or moving house.

A review does not automatically mean everything needs changing.

Sometimes it simply gives you reassurance that what you already have still reflects what you want.

I also support families with Wills designed around their individual circumstances and wishes.

Estate planning can sound complicated before the conversation has even started.

There are unfamiliar terms.

Different documents.

And plenty of information online that can make a simple question feel much bigger than it is.

You do not need to learn the terminology first.

My role is to explain the options in a way that makes sense, answer what you actually want to know and give you space to understand what may be relevant to your family.

You can begin in your own words.

I can help with the rest.

Give me a ring if there is something you would like explained without the legal jargon.

A helpful estate planning conversation should leave you feeling clearer than when it began.

You should understand what has been discussed.

You should feel comfortable asking for another explanation.

And you should know what the possible next steps are without feeling pushed into making an immediate decision.

I keep my approach friendly, straightforward and easy to follow.

No unnecessary jargon.

No hard sell.

Just a calm conversation focused on your family and the questions that matter to you.

Give me a ring when you would like a calm and straightforward conversation.

Some families hesitate because they worry their question will sound too basic.

There is no wrong first question.

- You might want to understand what a Will does.

- You might be wondering when a Lasting Power of Attorney becomes relevant.

- You might not know which subject you need to ask about yet.

That is completely fine.

My role is to help you find a clear starting point and explain the information in a way that is easy to follow.

Estate planning should feel approachable from the very first question.

πŸ‘‰ Leave a comment or send me a message with your starting question.

Good estate planning is not about giving every family the same answer.

It begins with asking the right questions.

- What matters most to you?

- Who is part of your family?

- What would you like to feel more certain about?

- What has prompted you to start thinking about this now?

The answers help shape a conversation that is relevant to your circumstances.

That is why I listen first and explain second.

You should receive information that connects to your family, not a generic list that leaves you feeling more confused.

➑️ Tell me the question you would like answered first.

Estate planning can feel harder when you believe every detail must be decided before the conversation starts.

It does not.

- You may know what you want to protect but not how to put it into words.

- You may have a few questions and no clear plan.

- You may simply want to understand what options could be relevant to your family.

That is enough for a first conversation.

We can begin with what matters to you, talk through anything that feels uncertain and take each point one at a time.

You do not need a perfect plan before asking for guidance.

πŸ‘‰ Message me with the part you would most like to make clearer.

Families often wait to ask for help because they think they should already understand what they need.

But that is not how estate planning has to begin.

You can start with a question.

You can explain what is unclear.

You can talk about the part you have been avoiding because it feels complicated.

My role is to listen and help you make sense of the available options in plain English.

There is no expectation that you should arrive with everything worked out.

A conversation now may help you feel more prepared before a decision becomes urgent.

Give me a ring when you have a question you would like to talk through.
