Sabarimala Sree Dharma Sastha Temple, dedicated to Lord Ayyappa, is the most famous and prominent among all the Ayyappa temples in Kerala. The temple is surrounded by mountains and dense forests. Devotees worship the Celibacy Bhava of Lord Ayyappa here. Men has to perform certain rituals before they do the darshan. They have to perform fasting (vrutha) for 41 days.
Since the bhava is Celibacy there are some age restrictions for women to enter the temple. Women of age limit between 10 and 50 are not allowed to enter the temple as Lord Ayyappa is a Bramachari. Girls can do the darshan before 10 years or they have to wait until the age of 50.
Total population of Kerala is 3 crore. Every year 5 crore people visit shabarimala. With this number you can imagine what is the prominence of sabarimala Women in Kerala are more than happy to help their men to perform the rituals associated with Sabarimala darshan. And they are also happy to wait until the age of 50 for the Ayyappa darshan. Because of the mere fact that this is women who want their husband / brother to practice celibacy and achieve good character.
People from all religious groups are allowed to visit the temple. Sabarimala is an example of hindu-muslim harmony. There is a mosque near the temple which is visited by both hindus and muslims. This is called Vavar mosque. Vavar was a muslim friend of Ayyappa. The important message given at the temple is the ultimate knowledge that you are the God yourself, “TatTvam Asi” in Sanskrit meaning “That is you” and this is the reason why pilgrims call each other Swami. Why Sabarimala is targeted Efforts to destroy Sabarimala temple were started in 1949 by the Christians in Kerala. The temple was set on fire in 1950. There was two more attempts to destroy the temple between 1950 and 1955. In 1983, there was another attempt to construct a church in the temple campus, which was in a place called Nilakkal. The ruling party in Kerala was congress leading by a communal chief minister. It was just because of the Hindu aikya vedi , a parivar organization of RSS , Christians couldn’t construct the church. Somehow the missionaries wanted to stop the pilgrimage to sabarimala..as sabarimala was one of the reason they were not able to do their religious conversion business. Even if they try to lure poor people by money , when mandala kala comes, Men leave everything behind , wear black dress , perform the vrutha and run to sabarimala temple to see their lord Ayyappa. That is the emotion behind the sabarimala darshan,. Complaint on women entry and following Supreme Court verdict. In 2006, Young lawyers association raised a complaint against the existing ritual in Sabarimala. They promoted this case as a gender discrimination. A campaign called Ready to wait has been started right form there and women who support the rituals of Sabarimala. The ready wait campaign was the move from women devotees demanding to retain the rituals of the temple. After seeing the campaign In 2018 the lady advocates who represent the young lawyers association made a statement that they regret the decision to have approached the apex court, demanding entry for all women. And they wanted to withdraw the court. But the communist government in Kerala was adamant in their stand and they requested the court to proceed with the case. Hence the case went ahead. After the verdict came out on 27th SEP2018 , temple was opened for pooja on 16OCT2018. 5 women including TV reporters attempted to enter the temple. Even though tight security was provided to these women, devotes didn’t t let them enter the temple. They blocked the ladies by forming groups and chanting Sharana mantras. There was no attack to women from devotee’s side. They were peacefully doing the protest. Their only slogan and weapon was Sharana mantra..which is swamiye ..sharanamayyappa Our hindu warriors from all corners of Kerala ,including men , children , women of age group above 50 came there on Sabarimala , made a human fort and chanting ayappa mantro You would be interested to know who are those women who came to break the existing custom of sabarimala. They publicly put a post in facebook saying that they are not believers but just want to challenge the devotees . One lady even came to temple carrying sanitary napkin in her irumudi kettu.. There was another lady who publicly put a facebook post saying that she wants to pour menstrual blood on the vigraha. From this it is ample clear that it is not just sabarimala which has been targeted. It is the Hindu clan which s been targeted We are also facing the same threat from the ruling communist party who also want to destroy hindutwa . Communist party know that Hindutwa is the biggest hindrance for communist party to grow in Kerala.. so they are also hell-bent to break the rituals of Sabarimala visa-a-vis the Hindu culture .. The communist party have already killed around 300 workers of RSS and BJP so far .. They also think that by oppressing the Hindus they can please the Jihadis and Evangelists as they are the vote banks. We kerala-hindus accepted everyone who came to our land. Jews, Parsis , muslims,..etc We celebrated Diwali , Eid, Christmas Etc. Now that we are fighting the final was to protect our dharma and existence You all know what happened in Kashmir. It was the land of Brahmins, those who know Brahma..But they had to run for their life from the valley. This is about to happen for the hindus in Kerala.. If we loose shabarimala , this will be a beginning of decimation of hindus in Kerala. similar to Kashmir. I request all of your support to stand with us in this final war for the existence and self-respect of Hindus in Kerala.
