How to Get Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) as a Dependent Partner in UK?
You may be able to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) as a dependent partner if:
1️⃣You have spent 5 years as a dependent (of the same partner)
AND
2️⃣Your partner has already gained ILR OR is applying for ILR at the same time as you.
Important: It’s 5 years as a dependent in total, not just on one visa route.
This means you can count time spent as a dependent on different visa categories, such as:
✔️Student
✔️Graduate
✔️Global Talent
✔️Innovator Founder
✔️Skilled Worker
🙇🏼♂️Example: If you were a Graduate Dependent for 2 years, then switched to Skilled Worker Dependent for 3 years, this can add up to your 5 years.
⚠️ But remember You cannot apply for ILR before your partner.
Even if you complete 5 years as a dependent, you must wait until your partner qualifies.

Remember…..
👉 Rules are different for dependent children (we’ll cover that in a future post).
