No, you don’t need to have a lawyer before starting mediation.

Your mediator will provide information to help you understand your options, formulate proposals and discuss the way forward. They will also talk through any proposals with you, helping you consider whether they are suitable for your circumstances.

Mediation Myth: You have to sit in the same room as your ex.
