The Athens Bar Association, in collaboration with the Decentralized Administration of Attica and the Piraeus Bar Association, organized the workshop “Current Issues in Immigration Law” on May 20, 2026, in Athens. The conference brought together government officials, legal professionals, and immigration law experts to discuss the recent amendments introduced by Law 5275/2026 to the Immigration Code, with focus on legal migration, labor mobility, residence permits, digitalization of immigration services, and the Golden Visa framework.
The discussions highlighted measures aimed at accelerating administrative procedures, simplifying permit renewals, and improving immigration processing through digital and AI-supported systems. Particular attention was also given to humanitarian permits, sanctions for abuse of immigration procedures, and compliance requirements under the Golden Visa regime.
Nikoleta Chrysikou, Associate Lawyer at Oikonomakis Law, attended the workshop as part of the firm’s ongoing commitment to monitoring significant developments in immigration law and migration policy in Greece.
